Consistency...?

I have noticed that there are times on the golf course and at the range where I feel "locked in", and I feel like I can't hit a bad shot.

Just as easilly, I can feel disconnected and can't seem to get back to that locked in feeling. Usually when this happens I have to just get back to very basic fundamentals just to get through the round. But of course the swing is mechanical, and not that much fun.

I realize this post is a bit nebulous, but any commentary would be enlightening.

Re: Consistency...?

Regardless of your skill level and amount of time you have played, this issue plagues everyone. It's basically unavoidable. All you can do is ride it out and make your best effort to get it back...sometimes it can take more then 1 round...other times is the next swing. This is why thy call it golf, because Sh!t and f*c& were already taken.

You're so right Greg. They were already taken, and frequently used during many a round!

Re: Consistency...?

Yes, we all go there at times. It is a feel that you have lost connection, your arms, shoulders , torso and hips don't feel synchronised. I find that when this happens I have become too armsey, I am throwing my arms around my body and failing to rotate my hips and shoulders correctly, it is rarely a matter of grip, stance or alignment.

It can also be state of mind that influences it, you feel rushed and lack confidence, this then manifests into your swing. I know when I played squash, sometimes I felt I was floating around the court with plenty of time to consider the next shot and play it, other times I felt I was rushing and swiping and disjointed. Greg, those words were not specifically for golf

Re: Consistency...?

I think we all struggle with this. I had an amazing 9-hole game the other day played a 37--where I normally shoot a 44ish score. Everything that I hit was right. Maybe I am on the cusp of lowering my handicap again. Practice pays off.
