Re: Turning my hips to quick

[quote=cmays]You are correct Hud.

What you can do in the house is grab a ball and your driver and address the ball with the driver, turn the right knee in and then pick up the driver and lay it across your hips and then the shoulders to see how wide you are open.

For Most, if they are going to turn the right knee in, they must first turn it in and then turn the shoulders and hips back to square and feel the weight on the big toe and heel of the back foot.

Then lay the clubhead behind the ball.[/quot

I had already done that and my hips were open quiet a bit, I played today and came away with 39 stableford points, not great, but better than what I have been doing for a while, so we must be on the right track. thanks alot.

Re: Turning my hips to quick

What hasn't been said in this thread yet is proper weight distribution. By this I don't mean shifting weight fom side to side in the normal way, but keeping the forward weight constant. I think this aspect of the swing is very underestimated.

If you watch a lot of players who seem to be coming off the ball and hitting weak push shots, it's often because their whole weight and centre of gravity is moving away from the ball at impact, almost guaranteeing a mishit and major loss of power (likely weak slice or push).

So, if you think your hip rotation is a cause of your problems, check your weight distribution / balance throughout the swing. If you're centre of gravity is moving back away from the ball at any stage, you've got potential problems.
