| One good lesson... And I'm hitting the ball better than I ever have. I've been working on setting my wrists properly and holding the angle through impact. Not fighting to keep the wrists set, but certainly not actively using may hands. This is what I've spent time with my coach learning. The other thing my coach pointed out was that I fan the face wide open on the backswing. (A little too much AJ, I think). The problem? I never seemed to want to fan it closed again. So I blocked a ton of shots out to the right. Since working on a good impact position (wrist set), and NOT rolling my forearms open on the backswing, I'm not losing balls right anymore. In fact, I've gotta watch for when my hands DO get active during impact, the ball goes left. The other thing that my coach mentioned was that I would practice getting 'stuck'. I'd have a tendency to get the club stuck on my hip (rather than in front of my body). Between solving that problem and solving the rolling forearms, I've been hitting the ball well. By well, I mean at my target. I have no idea what my distances are. I think they may be a little shorter than pre-rebuild... but I don't care. I'd rather have a short lazer than a long spraygun (unlike SmashFactor1.55 - who's honesty I appreciate). I'm told that distance will come as I get more and more comfortable swinging the club properly. Just had to share.

| Re: One good lesson... Hi Lowpost, http://www.newgolfswing.com/newgolfswing07.php http://www.newgolfswing.com/newgolfswing08.php I think you may find these two, a great read for the very thing you are working on, wrist retention and through the ball. I have always found these really useful and often refer back to them myself. Hope this helps. Ian. |

| Re: One good lesson... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHL_oxcOrms There it is. A wicked impact sound (no sound recorded on the video), straight flight, on target. Any swing bigger than this, and it's all for naught. In my own analysis, I do too good a job of keeping my head still. It's causing a reverse pivot, even though I'm only taking a half swing. Impact and the divot are about as perfect as it gets. The ball position may be a touch too forward - I should have played it back another ball or two. I've got a slight hip slide forward - about half my leg - through impact and into the finish. At this point, I'm assuming that it's due to having my head locked into position. Oddly enough, my head moves back behind the ball just in time for impact. LOL - a symphony of flaws that work together for a good shot. That right now is my functional full swing. I take sometimes 3 more clubs than I normally would, and make that swing. When I've got long carries (the first hole on my course requires a good 200 yard poke to find the fairway), I'll blast away with the slice-o-matic; I mean driver, and aim way up the left. Brainless swings still result in my 2 major swing flaws: Rolling the forearms open and flipping my hands through impact. I'm currently working through my PCS Fitter certification. There's no club in the world to combat rolled forearms - not even Maltby KE4's with a ton of weight in the heel. A face choked open will create a slice. ![]()
