| Open Clubface with Neutral Grip I have been noticing that my left wrist is bowed at the top of my backswing and I've been told that is the reason for my open club face at impact ( this is a result of my neutral grip). I've been keeping a strong grip ( 2 or 3 knuckles) to counter act this but often at impact my club face is closed and I'm hitting left of the target. Do any of you guys have any suggestions on how I can counter this problem of the bowed wrist at the top of the backswing? Is it a flexibility problem? It seems when I make a wide shoulder turn it is more prnounced. I'd like to have a neutral grip to gain more consistency of having a square club face at impact. Thanks robf. |

| Re: Open Clubface with Neutral Grip I play with a nuetral grip. Have played this way for 5+ decades, and I hit the ball pretty straight 95% of the time. To cure the bowed left wrist at the top, practice with a mirror, and focus on keeping it straight. I know some people who have have taped a straight edge on top of their wrist to help with this. Some have used a comb, slipped under their watch face to also help. As long as the wrist/hand areas stay in contact with the comb. or straight edge, you wrist won't be concaved, or convexed. Witht he left wrist straight, the right wrist, and palm area should fall into the correct position under the club's grip. This will be open to argument from some, but it is what I do, and it works. Get to the top and hold it there. Now push your right elbow away and see how your left wrist will bow back as your right hand pushes onto your left. Now pull your right elbow in towards your side so your right wrist cups back and flattens your left wrist. Your right arm and wrist should look like you are holding up a tray with drinks on it, your right elbow close to your body. Also take a look at Greg's right hand drill, this will also show you how to keep your right wrist cupped to support the left. (Staff menu at the top of page, Greg Willis, pick the link to his own site then look at the Right hand drill)
