| Adding Weight to Club Head Does anybody have any experience of adding lead tape to the head of clubs? Basically, I am playing with Taylor Made (woods and irons) which are balanced to the extent that I really cannot 'feel' the weight of the club head during the swing. Adding lead tape should improve the feel. (My dad had some Pings a few years back - when I tried those, I definitely was aware of the head weight - didn't think too much about it at the time, but it's probably good feedback.) Does it matter where the tape is applied - is one spot better than another? Any other experience, tips on this welcome. |

| Re: Adding Weight to Club Head Generally speaking (as per the uncontested laws of club making); Tape at the heel will promote a draw. Tape at the toe will promote a fade. Tape at the bottom will lower CoG, promoting a higher ballflight. Tape at the top will raise CoG, promoting a lower ballflight. Tape level with the current CoG (often recognized as 'the middle') will increase feel. You can also try tape on the hosel, and tape on the shaft, although these approaches are not well documented. |
