Still Pulling???

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. when addressing the ball, this is how i start. Left hand goes on club first(with thumb right down center of shaft) Right hand interlocks with left (with right thumb down center of shaft as well.) Align club to ball on target line, address the ball, stand alittle more upright, ( like someone is giving me a wegie from behind. Ball is played in center of stance. Takeaway starts with triangle (arms, shoulders, hands) Get to top of swing, make a slight bump to left, swing down and follow through. My question is, how come I am still pulling the golf ball? This past weekend I was just off the green by 10 yards top, all pin high. Been noticing that gradd stains on clubs are towards the toe of the club. Thanks in advance

Re: Still Pulling???

I can only guess that you are hitting out to in and are closing the face due to your weak grip, this is sending the ball straight left, the marks near the toe would be correct for this type of swing.

I would suggest you need to work on getting the club coming from the inside, try the pump drill to get the feel. Also try strengthening your grip a little, left thumb laying slightly to the right side of centre, right thumb parallel to left.

Smile Re: Still Pulling???

Two problems you probably have:
1. your right thumb needs to be left of center not straight down the shaft; the right thumb and right index finger form a pincher action on the shaft.
2. Check your left arm at impact, it may be breaking down but in any case pulls can be caused by losing your release or angles early.
Imagine you were going to slap someone, you wouldn't release early because that would be a sissy slap. If you wanted to slap them so it would hurt, you would hold the wrist angle then release.
Casting or over the top usually results in pulls and pull-slices.
