I agree with what you are saying.
Two things I did when I studied the driver, many more but I will toss out these 2. Well maybe more.
From a square stance (50-50 weight) grip the driver in the left hand with it straight with the left arm and off the ground a few inches.
Now slide the weight to the right to see a change in the left shoulder and left hand which is now more behind the ball.
At address when I grip the driver the hands may be forward at that time, then I make my shift to the right placing the hands behind the ball and go into the backswing. Remember I am the big-boy.
2nd is to go back to the square stance and slowly slide the left foot back and look at the changes and then repeat with the right foot back.
I also stood on platforms and chairs and notice how Hogan's Plane changed.

Interesting little article.
The shorter the person, the less the hip bend, the more rounded the swing, the further back the ball because the shorter person does not have the long arm levers to move the hands further out after impact as the tall person, thus looses hand speed and releases sooner. As a General Rule of Thumb.
A monkey with a short frame and long arms you would need to make some adjustments.
I work from my logo of the shirt with the driver and back towards the inside of the right foot for shorter
irons. Right groin area.
I can change that which would take a few minutes to show, but would take me a long chapter to write about.
