Smile Golfone/other posters question

re: driver: can you advise on the slowing of the hands down into impact with driver. I realize this is a timing issue that I don't have with irons. My irons are like lasers but for some reason driver and 3 wood suffer when my timing is a bit off.
I am focused on maintaining the angles, ie. left hand flat and right hand hinged back to produce that whiplash action at impact.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Golfone/other posters question

Hi TID,

The hands have to slow down as they approach full extension and become farther away from the body, COAM physically makes this happen and it is more pronounced with the driver. It should not be a problem though as what is happening is the momentum is being transferred from the arms and hands to the club and it is this that creates the acceleration for the late hit.

I guess the question is are you losing power?

The attached link explains the principal, read the section on COAM in particular.

I hope this is of some help?

Re: Golfone/other posters question

hi
i think its a bit like cmays says in: dont try and swing the hand or do anything with the hand near impack just let it happen and that mean not thinking about it too, i bet you dont think about your hands when you use your iron, only about where you want the ball to start and where it will finish.
thinking to much had spoiled many a good swing.
best of luck
bill

Re: Golfone/other posters question

Thanks G-1 and Brian, yes I have been a student of COAM for sometime now but as I said I get out of sync with driver and 3 wood. In reading G1 and looking at Brian's article, it became apparent that I am rushing impact. As I said, my irons are deadly and long, my short game is excellent but I believe I get so wound up in scoring low that I get too quick with the woods.
Thanks for your time-big help and we all need reminders.
I generally hit 250-300 balls a day working my way through the bag but tommorrow I will just work on woods.

Re: Golfone/other posters question

Yep, bill you are right; one thing led to another with the woods and pretty soon I was trying to think my way back to my long game. \
Thanks much for the insight.
