Cool Finding a pro

I'm a new golfer - took a class through a community college to learn the basics. I found it quite confusing for someone who had never even held a golf club before. I have some serious issues with posture when taking a full swing - seem to top the ball - but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! How do you find a pro for some one on one that can work well with a beginner and simplify, simplify, simplify! I play once or twice a month but now the weather is actually down to 101, I might make it more often!
Thanks for any advice!

Hello Renie
there is a lot of information on this site that will help you,but i think getting a pro to have a look at you is a good place to start.you must have a course near to you where you can get good one on one coaching. In the meantime you can work on your grip while watching t.v and your posture indoors so they begin to feel comfortable.these are i feel are 2 of the most important fundementals to good golf.PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.also if your looking for a good read i would reccomend the eight step swing,i must have read it ten times.

Finding a pro

Thanks Cabbie. There are probably hundreds of golf courses within a 50 mile radius. It's hard to find one that's good with beginners! I appreciate your response. This is a great site and I've picked up more here than during the whole class!

Renie,

Check at several places, ask how many lady golfers they teach. Women golfers have a more few things to look out for and if a pro teaches only men they won't be familiar with them.

Ask them questions like:

What is the compensation for a womens elbows and hips compared to a man? If they can't answer that one keep looking.

Answer: Women have a tendancy to over rotate the hips, the back foot must be closer to perpendicular to stop the rotation sooner. A womens elbows have a tendancy to bend more forward, sometimes a grip compensation is needed or a serious lack for distance will result.

The second question would be, What is the normal swing tendancy of a woman golfer, Hitter or swinger?

Answer: Swinger

Never hurts to quiz before you pay for expensive lessons,

GolfBald
