Weirdest Shot...

Here's my weirdest shot:

In a tournament, a par 3 160 yards, a good 20 feet below the t-box. My 7-iron was just perfect, hit a perfet shot, straight at the flag... TWANG! I hit directly on the very top of the flag, the flag shaft buckled and it sounded like a shot - and my ball shot off - at least 30 yards - into the woods. Never found it.

Beat that....

wow! can't beat that, but I have a doozy of a BAD shot! Another one of those station outings at a charity scramble, we were teeing off on a hole which is right by the clubhouse. very crowded that day (big turnout) the team behind us was waiting there at the teebox, while we waited on the team in the fairway. Finally, time to let 'er rip! There I am, representing the radio station, trying to look good for the public, and I promptly skied it waaaay up. We all watched helplessly as it drifted to the right, came sailing down, and banked off the far end of the clubhouse roof, ricocheting like a rocket into the parking lot, which was chock full of cars! the guys waiting on us collapsed laughing, I was afraid they might have a collective stroke!

I was warming up (in rain) for a scramble tournament, right by the clubhouse, like your experience, and the club (a wood) went flying out of my hands, and stuck in a tree! ...

So I grabbed another wood, and threw it up to get the first down... and of course it stuck.....

Now I had a whole chorus of onlookers, all with remarks, some kind and some not so kind, and was getting desperate. I just hoped and prayed my best friend didn't show, ... then I would never get to live it down.

Out of desperation, I grabbed an empty aluminum beer keg, and started throwing IT up in the tree. Of course this lead to even more unkind remarks, and a real crowd had gathered....

It started working, the one club came down, the other barely hanging, when, of course, my friend show up, with Directly Unkind words aimed at entertaining the masses (as I now perceived them).

A couple more humiliating tosses, and my other club came down, I made my start time, and have, of course, never lived it down. (He still tells Every new player we meet the story, and it was many years ago it happened)

an empty beer keg?? don't know how big those suckers are in Norway, but here in ol' Kentucky, you couldn't throw an empty keg into a tree without a cannon! great story!

I don't remember how big it was, but it wasn't hard to throw.... either I had lost of adrenaline, or the keg was smaller. Seems the one here in Norway was about than those at the University in New Mexico, if my memory serves me right....

hmmm, maybe we drink more beer than those New Mexico guys...don't know if that's good or not!

That is hysterical!!! Times like that you wish there was a camera running!

Heres one for you, My third round, on the tee at a long P5. I try to kill it (like most newbies!) and the ball goes at at 90 degree angle right...straight up...and down into the trash can placed at every tee box. sounded like a gong, then a lot of laughing!

Another at the driving range.... with a friend hitting balls in the winter. theres a large canvas backdrop to keep the wind out of each booth. to keep the wind cover weighted down, theres sort of a long pocket sewn, and a pipe laid into that. hit a ball it went up, hit the ceiling, hit the ground, hit the wall, then landed in the pocket!!! thank the lord i had a witness!!
