new PB broke 80 at last

at a loose end so i went to my club for a knock to try a few things out, as i got there a couple of guys i know were ready to tee off so they invited me to join them,
my main experiment meant leaving the driver at home, im not unhappy with it but i wanted to try different clubs off the tee, well it worked as i shot 79!
measured my 3 wood shots off the tee and they averaged 238 yds (GPS) and all in the fairway.
all ive got to do is perform like that in the comps and then im due a hefty cut!

238 was the average, longest one was measured at 244yds!

Well done Slats, good to hear your on top form, just think if you had taken your driver for just a few holes then you may have played even better, I think you have now realised that single figure golfers don't always use driver off the tee, sometimes it's better to score well.

but i have to disagree with you
i have been collecting stats lately and my 3 wood is 10 yds consistenly longer and godly accurate than my current driver set up.

looking to sort an upgrade shaft for my driver after a fitting session but till then its staying out of the bag

Before you get an upgraded shaft just get your pro-shop to take an inch off the current one and reset the swing weight - should only take them five minutes.

Since I did that I'm hitting the driver much better - well that is if you ignore the push which is the next problem.
