Holed Out from Fairway For Eagle

Good morning all:Just wanted to brag a little of a shot i made yesterday.Par 4 dogleg right..i hit a mediocre tee shot that left me 160 yards out in medium rough with a side hill lie(ball below feet).I aligned a little to left side of green to compensate for the obvious fade.I flushed a six iron that went dead at pin to center of green where flag was located.Green was slightly uphill so all we could see was that the ball was going to land on the green..we could not see bottom of flag.We got up there and ball was nowhere to be found.I said.."the ball has got to be in the hole"..walked up and peeked in and there it was!!Man what a feelin'!!.That shot propelled me to my lowest round of the year so far..78..thanks for indulging me.David in Alabama.

Furthest I've holed out from is 148 for an eagle on a par 5, but I've holed a 112 yarder for a 2 on a par 4 before, in failry simiar circumstances to yours. I couldn't see the bottom of the flag as the green was above me and it was a firm green. A full-blooded, sky-high sand wedge down wind saw the ball bounced right next to the hole, hit the stick, jump up in the air and slam dunk itself into the cup! We didn't need to see it because we could hear the clatter!

Like you say, what a great feeling it is to pull off something like that! Just a shame it doesn't happen more often!

Recently one of the young members at our club holed a 225 yard 5 wood for an albatros on a par 5! He was in the local newspaper for it! Famous for 15 minutes! Now that must have felt real good!

The best I've had is about an 80y pitch in. But Id Obed off the tee which put a dampner on the hole. Was a pretty good par save in the end, but eagle would have been so much sweeter!

I've been about a foot from an ace on a par 3. But still waiting on that ace number 1.

I haven't had an ace either! apart from an albatros it's the only thing I haven't done yet! Closest I've been is 2 inches .

Mind you, Ben Hogan never made a hole in one in competition, so we're in good company!
