friday 13th not unlucky for me..............

as im through to the 4th round of the singles

played my 3rd rd singles match tonight against a 5 capper and got through 3 & 2

i was always in control though my opponent pushed me hard

here are the highs and lows

1st hole 162 par 3, thinned my 7 iron through the green chipped back to 4ft and holed that to go 1up

2nd hole 399yd par 4, adrenaline still gushing i smashed my drive at the bunker and watched it draw back to the middle of the fairway after a walk of nearly 300yds i hit the middle of the green and 2 putted to go 2 up

3rd hole 504yd par 5 hit another good drive opponent in the trees and has to chip out sideways! layed up and then hit the green with my 3rd 2 putts and im 3up

my opponent at this point looked like this

4th 259yd par 4, the only hole where i didnt get a shot and he wins it after a great tee shot hits the green. 2up

5th 371yd par 4 halved

6th 417yd par 4 i win after he goes OOB with 2 tee shots, 3 up

7th 349yd par 4 good drive then thinned my approach through the green, he holes a great putt, 2 up

8th 439yd par 4 another good drive then slightly pulled my 5wood appproch his second goes in the bunker, he just gets out to leave a long putt, i duff my lob shot into the bunker and then hole my next shot 3 up

9th 180yd par3 halved after my putt for the win does a wall of death round the hole and stays out.

10th,11th and 12th halved

13th 409yd par 4 good drive, approach bounces funny and lands in the greenside bunker, deepest on the course, i splash it out to 4ft and hole the putt for the win. 4up

screw up on the 14th and 15th now only 2up with 3 to play

16th 388yd par4 last minute swop from driver to 3wood doesnt pay off as i blocked my tee shot into the trees punched a 7iron under the branches to the fringe of the green, 2 putts later ive won 3 & 2

played in and knocked my 7iron tee shot to 2ft on our par 3 18th


presidents day tomorrow and its stableford................................bring it on

I should finally get a chance tomorrow to hand in my 3rd card for official handicap and then get involved in some proper competitions.

Nice work Slats. I wish we had more matchplay at my club. Then again, I also wish we had 9 more holes.
