Longest Drive!

I just finished playing a one-day tournament, playing in the first group.

On the back 9, there was a long drive hole. I put a nice fade up the middle, and leave myself 4 yards from the rough, 270 yds off the tee.

21 groups later, only one guy had outdriven me - 4 yards - but was also 4 yards over - in the rough!

Needless to say, I'm elated!

Just to add, I hit a new PB today - 300 yds with a 1 club tailwind.

I currently hit a 44.5" 10* mid-firm flex driver. What would happen if I stepped up to a stiff flex?

Driver length adds distance. Adding 1" equals about 10-12 yards depending on swing speed. A stiffer flex will be needed when going up in driver length.

It's not unusual to see a 3x shaft at 48" or 49" in long drive.

My suggestion, get a low cost shaft Mercury Pro Kevlar it's a little stiff by design and take it out to 46". Then start cutting it back until you find a comfortable length. I've had friends try my clubs and hit them well. Also add a 5 gram tip weight. It helps to be able to feel thehead at the longer length.
