My round today

Played in a Stableford today, greens were a bit icy for the first few holes and there was a stiff wind.

Hole 1 - PAR - Good Drive, 8 Iron to the front of the green. Pin miles back on the left meant I couldn't go directly at it. Holed a decent 6 foot par putt.

Hole 2 - PAR - Good Drive, 9 Iron landed on the green and bounced through. Played a miracle downhill chip to 4 foot and holed the putt.

Hole 3 - BOGEY - Good drive, missed green with 6 Iron, chipped over bunker to 6 feet, missed putt.

Hole 4 - PAR - 7 Iron on green, 2 putt.

Hole 5 - PAR - Great Drive, 9 Iron to 20 feet, just missed putt.

Hole 6 - BOGEY - Drive down the middle, slightly pulled 6 iron, a few feet left of green. No chance of getting chip close, green was icy.

Hole 7 - BIRDIE - Drive, 3 wood, controlled 6 Iron into a stiff wind. Holed a 5 foot putt.

Hole 8 - DOUBLE BOGEY - Par 4 unreachable in 2. 3rd shot wedge left me 30 feet short. 3 Putted.

Hole 9 - DOUBLE BOGEY - 6 Iron found left side bunker, thinned out into bushes, chipped on and 2 putted.

Hole 10 - BOGEY - Another unreachable par 4 ( Only in Winter !), Drive into right rough, 3 wood short, wedge on and 2 putt.

Hole 11 - BOGEY - 3 wood short left on long par 3. Poor chip, missed putt.

Hole 12 - BOGEY - Drive, 6 Iron into right bunker. Good trap shot to 5 foot, missed putt.

Hole 13 - BOGEY - Long par 4, dog leg, Drove right and layed up with 7 iron. Wedge on, missed putt.

Hole 14 - BOGEY - Drove in left rough, 3 iron down fairway. 3 wood pushed right. Chipped to 4 feet. Lipped out for par.

Hole 15 - BOGEY - Drive, 7 iron to middle of the green. 3 putt.

Hole 16 - PAR - Drive, Wedge and 2 putts.

Hole 17 - PAR - Long par 3, Used a Driver. 2 Putts.

Hole 18 - PAR - Short par 4 played off temporary tee. 3 wood in left bunker, thinned bunker shot, chipped to 4 feet, holed putt.

Stableford score : ME 30
Others, 29, 23 and 21.

From a full handicap.

I can't wait for summer, I felt I played well.

Re: My round today

I reckon you would probably get a handicap of about 10 for that effort week in week out (I assume all the scores you wrote down were gross rather than nett?)

Re: My round today

Nice round - the par on the 17th must have felt like a birdie. Any good tips for putting on ice?

Re: My round today

My handicap is actually 5.

My Dad scored 29 points and he won the 3rd Division.

That's the lowest score I've known that has won a stableford.

One player got 36 points which is level par with his handicap. His score was the best. Some guy I played with scored 8 points on the front 9 which is about the lowest I've ever seen.

Trouble is we play off our normal Comp tee's so with the mud and cold weather, the course is playing so long. A few years ago we used to play off winter mats that were moved forward by around 20 - 30 yards.

Re: My round today

I'm playing well at the moment. Trouble is the course is a mud bath and it's playing super long. At least 3 of the par 4's I can't reach.
