I Finally Broke Par!!!!!!!!!

Finally in my 3rd year of playing, i broke par. On the front 9 i shot a 1 under 35 with 2 birdies and a bogey and on the back i shot a 1 under 34 with 1 birdie for a total 69. It's funny because the last two years i have been working my butt off to make my high school golf team as a senior, or my college golf team, and my scores were not improving a whole lot. This year i haven't been able to practice as much as normal and for some reason, my scores are lower. I only have 4 round out of like 20 something above 80, and last year i was lucky to break 80. Now if i could only hit it as far as i did last year.....

Re: I Finally Broke Par!!!!!!!!!

Congrats!!! One question, wouldn't you rather shoot under par than have more distance????

Re: I Finally Broke Par!!!!!!!!!

yes, but the way i'm striking the ball now, i probably shoot better if i hit the ball as far as i used to. It's a lot easier hitting a 6 or 7 iron into a par 5 than a 3 or 4 iron.

Re: I Finally Broke Par!!!!!!!!!

Congrats kguldi,
This is also my 3rd summer and I've really upped my game. Last summer I was just starting to consistantly shot in the high 80's and I was very pleased. With the start of this summer I almost feel like throwing up if I shot anything over 83 now. In the past few weeks I've played about 15 rounds and broke 80 on about 2/3rds of them. I feel that within the next month I'll be able to match your feat and break par!!!

I almost accomplished it today when I shot a 2 over 74 w/ 4 birdies, 10 pars, 2 bogeys and 2 doubles. The 2 single bogeys were both stupid stupid stupid 3 putts from within 25 feet of the hole and two of the pars were 3 putt pars, how often do you get to say that? I reached a short 520 yard par 5 in 2 and 3 putted for par and also drove a short 320 yard par 4 and I sure gave the eagle a run for its money by hitting it 10 feet past (stupid stupid stupid)!!! I feel 'some day soon' against 'some very worthy golf course' my day is coming and I can't wait to shot in the 60's on a course with par 70-72.
