| Broke 80!! A birdie on the last hole(Par 5) and I add up the damage as we walk of the green and guess what ? It is a 79 !!. It was such a mental block and I am releived I got over it. My handicap index is 13. I read a lot of the posts on this site and I should say, Gregg has been very helpful. Next Target...start shooting in the 70s, consistently. |

| Re: Broke 80!! Congratulations! That IS a big barrier, and now have that to build off of. Range work will help you get lower. Track where the big numbers came from. If it was say your putting - you had 4 3-putts from inside 40 feet, spend 50% of your work next month on long lags and 8 footers. If it was chipping, say you saw 5 missed up and downs. Then chip 50% from every possible way for the next month - sw, pw, 7i to every point on the green from every lie. Always do the rest of the 50% from all the rest of your practice routines. But this extra focus time will get you closer to the 70's. Good going!

| Re: Broke 80!! Congratualtions. Rounds in the 70s will now be easier for you, simply because you now know you can do it. Consistant 70s scores will happen if you just trust the swing you have, while devoting ample time to your short game practice, and putting. Your next goal is a "round of par", which I suspect will show up someday much like your 79 did. I know when I first broke 80, long before the "new math" showed up, it was, and still is my greatest accomplishment playing this game. That's when I knew I had a chance at shooting par. GJS |
