| Eclectic PAR for the course ! I don't know how much - or how many of - you guys and gals are into the concept of 'Eclectic' scores, but over here in Denmark, it is often used inside 'private clubs', as in 'clubs within clubs'. I'm a member of the Wednesday Gentlemen's Club at my golf club. Every wednesday, unless somehow hindered, we join up and tee-off in a private match. There's a slight 'entry fee' and a prize for the winners (strokes & points). On top of that, there is the 'all-season Eclectic scoreboard'. On this, every player can decide to carry over scores on individual holes to the 'all-season' scorecard, summing up the 'best round' over the season. It's a great way to see how low you could actually score, IF - one day - your game should work out for a full 18 holes. Only there's a catch ... once a score is transferred to the eclectic, that hole is 'closed', and you can no longer improve on the score on that hole, even if you should better it at a later time. Last wednesday, I closed the last hole on my Eclectic scorecard ... 2 months early, considering the season over here. It probably won't win me anything, since I'm still a lousy, inconsistent 34hcp hacker, but my total score was a 72! Yup - Par for the course. I have now made Par on every hole on my home course. Since I have yet to birdie ANY hole at my home course, I can't be unhappy about an all-Par Eclectic score. But of course, I bet the birdies will be flocking now that the scorecard is closed. ![]() I won't mind. I've only broken 100 once so far, so cutting another 1 or 2 shots of my 72 Eclectic won't matter too much. But for me, it was a great milestone to see, that I CAN now Par every hole on the course. All I now need to do, is to cut some 30-something shots of every round ... can't be all that hard, can it?! ![]() Hardly 'Glory', but still a nice gut-feeling for a high-capper!

| Re: Eclectic PAR for the course ! That's a pretty cool idea. We've got a men's night here, where there's a $5 entry fee (and another $2 for skins - if you're the only one to make birdie or better on any given hole, you win some cash). I've parred every hole on the course (9 hole), and made birdie on 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9. I love the idea of a 'season long scorecard'. Granted, I'd be holding out on the par 5's for eagles, and start carrying a 3 wood again! |
