Don't worry about everyone else. Congratulations on breaking 100. That's a great feeling, isn't it.

Re: not all that good but broke 100 for first time

It's certainly humbling to me to read of people who have been playing 6 months or less who break 100. I shot my best 18 holes ever today, scoring 111! And I've been playing two years... But I know well that there are vast differences in athletic ability, so I just plod along at my own pace. So whether or not others are impressed by breaking 100, I am!

That is good to hear it took me 9 months before I broke 100. and 18 months to break 90, but now after 27 months I break 90 most rounds and a few time have broken 80.

Re: not all that good but broke 100 for first time

I was just going to reply to this thread when I saw bagfull's avatar. Someone commented the other day about Ubizmo's avatar causing them sleepless nights (nearly), and I see the shades have gone, but bagfull's will give you nightmares!

Anyway, well done on breaking the 100 mark Adam. Just for a trial, take your best iron probably a 6 or 7 iron, and other than a putter (obviously), and a wedge, go and have a round of golf. Leave all your other clubs out of the bag so you cannot use them. I bet, (not much like), that you still break 100. Here lies course management, and the key too lowering your handicap. The next chapter in golf.

Cheers.

Lee.

Re: not all that good but broke 100 for first time

ah breaking a 100. awesome.

I recently visited Thailand this summer to see my dad, so about 18 holes is under 10 bucks a day, it was incredible.I didn't have my own set so my dad got the office ones, which are fake-the driver was a 540xd,fake of course. During the week I'd play by myself, with my own lady caddy at a decent course ( under $10) and then on the weekends I'd play with my Dad at the Thai Country Club, absolutely beautiful course, hosted the Asian Masters where Tiger drove the green on the 10th hole Par 4.

Anyway, I was there for two months. First couple of rounds were in between 110-120 range. Read ALOT of sites online, tips, downloaded videos, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING concerning the game. Basically I was obssessed; after a while of alotta driving range time-dropped down to 100 in the second half of the first month of June. By end of July I had dropped down to a 90. I was ecstatic and wats great is that I saved all my score cards from the 120 to the 90.

I think this might be the biggest athletic achievement to date, breaking 100 in two months. Unfortunately I haven't been able to hit a full 18 holes since its so expensive to play here. Can't wait till I find myself a job and get out there-I miss it bad. Already bought my used Tommy Armour golf clubs and one 580XD Driver, all the action they've seen is the par 3 course here for 11 bucks and the driving range for 5.boo.

peace
m.l

Re: not all that good but broke 100 for first time

Remember, there are far more golfers who dont break 100 than who do.
ther average male handicap is still around 26
Thats a 98, on a good day.

Congrats.

I haven't yet broken the 100 barrier but I'm closing in on it, playing about 105 these days. I'd like to try this experiment of just bringing one club plus a putter and a wedge. I wonder if I'd actually score better than with a bag full of clubs. Wouldn't be surprised...

I think I'd choose my 5h and PW.
