Re: Broke 90!!! My HCP is 15,7 also. In my case my personal PAR at my course is 90. - So, I can play a bogie in every hole and still get 2 points per hole. logic is: If I play a 5 on a PAR 5, I get 3 points. OR with a double bogie, I get 1 point. So it's a point and a stroke. I should make 36 points on a round (90). This will not effect my HCP. Every point more than 36 drops my HCP by 0.3 points. So the course you play has a slope and it determines how many strokes you have. Then your own HCP determines how much every point drops your HCP. I use a online calculator http://www.nexgolf.fi/tuloskortti/ (click the UK flag for English language) My course is JG-Jyvas-golf-Sippulanniemi(18). Last edited by Hannu; 07-18-2006 at 07:00 AM.

| Re: Broke 90!!! Ah I get it, thanks Hannu. Played yesterday for the league and finished with quota. It looked like I was going to play some great golf, finished with a 41 (13/15 points) - but after that I just lost my swing again. Eitherway, I have a new routine and it worked out great. My putting was spot on and so was my driving, for the most part. It was my iron game that let me down once more. If anyone is intersted, I highly recommend purchasing (or trying out the 9.95 shipping deal) for The Golfer's Mind by Dr. Kilstren (sp?) - it is pretty great stuff. You get to try it out for a month after only paying for shipping. It has 3CDs, all very eye-opening - the best one is CD 3 because it's called "Automatic Golf Success" - and man...I think it's working. It's basically a hypnosis or meditation - that really improves the mental side and relaxes you to hit good shots. I've never shot a 41, 43 was my lowest, so starting with a 41 - after only having the CDs for one day - I'm pretty much set. I have to work on my iron play though this week. Should be playing a round tomorrow...and it's I'm pretty confident to say, I'm going to get into the mid 70's.

Re: Broke 90!!! Hi, I've been having problems with my opening shots, but it's over now. I'm playing today and I think that 85 will be good enough. I don't want to push it. Just play a relaxed easy game .Today, we have a prefict weather for golf.

Re: Broke 90!!! Hi, I did 95. To keep my schedule for dropping my HCP to singles I need to play a round of 85 this week. (Or play two rounds of 88). We are having a little rainy and a windy day today so - let's see what happens. I'll try to play a relaxed round with out thinking of the score - too much...

Re: Broke 90!!! Today I did 96 .Front nine was 43, but I lost it. Just tried to play too relaxed???

Re: Broke 90!!! ouch. Too relaxed is okay in my opinion. I find the shortgame is an aboslute killer to strokes, especially putting - something I've been focusing on all week. I've developed a routine to not take more than 10 seconds over putt and it's seemed to help with the practice.

Re: Broke 90!!! Did it again. 43 front nine and then I lost it. It's a nine hole course so second time should be the same:-) I think my mental game is not working. Our course is 3rd most difficult in Finland - the slope is the 3rd highest. Maybe today I should just enjoy the company with whom I am playing? And just keep the ball in the game.

Re: Broke 90!!! I did 89 today. I boogied first nine holes:-) I tried not to think about the score - just enjoy the game. I played very conservatively. Did not take any changes.

| Re: Broke 90!!! Nice Hannu! Maybe I should use the same approach, I have a tendency to tally up my scores after 9. Played today and shot 43/49 - pretty horrible. I lost my iron game on the back 9 once again. I'm just kind of confused right now on where my iron game has gone. I tried swinging the way I had back in May, when I took lessons, but this slow swing is not what I want. I've been thinking about purchasing "The Plane Truth" DVDs that you see on the Golf Channel because I really do want to figure out what kind of plane am I. I've been trying Two-Plane for the longest time, but maybe I'm in between. I just got done reading an article that GoNavy posted with Jim Hardy's 1P/2P discussion and I think I'm definitely going to try to figure out which one I am. At the moment I'm pretty confident I'm a 2P - I"d like to be more 1P since I'm still a beginner and 1P seems so much simpler. Shooting I'm going to try my best to revert back to your teachings because those were spot on and I was hitting straight and long shots - I just don't remember what was covered. I know my set-up could be the culprit, so that's what I'm going to work on first.

Re: Broke 90!!! matt, have you ever heard anyone say that Ben Hogans fives llessons was the equivelent of the golfing bible, there is a reason for that. By that book. LEARN HIS GRIP, LEARN HIS SET UP, LEARN HIS WAGGLE. THe more I learn about the golf swing the more I understand how much he knew. THere are so many golden nuggets of information in there. The hard part is understanding what he says sometimes. some parts can seem contradictary but once they are explained they are clear that he did not contradict himself. Post a video matt, we will get you back there in no time and go reread the old post and start a new one.
