| Re: Broke 90!!! Matt10, I think that there are two big things in golf. One is the technique - the basics. Other is how you apply it. To be aple to apply the technique you learn, you need to get feedback and the most effective feedback comes from your body. This means that by being aware and listening to your own body you will improve your golf. I think that you need to know the basics and a good instructor has already helped you to get a good start. I am trying to say that maybe you have all the information you need, but just need to apply it better? I had this problem - and might still have it. I was trying to swing like I did on the driving range, but it does not work on the course. I was copying my swing, but yesterday I just made a good set up, aimed at the target and swang at the ball. It worked. |

Shootin, in my new swing setup (as If I'm ordering a swing from you, hehe) I'd like to be able to hit DOWN on the ball consistently. My swing now is just a SWEEP and it's robbing me of alot of power and accuracy. Thanks for the help guys, I thought breaking 80 was coming up this week, I guess it'll have to wait till next month ![]()

also, try not to get to obsessed about one plane or two plane, if you get yourself set up in a GREAT set up position, then you can make YOUR natural swing. Many tour players loook so different but because they most all have a sound set up then this allows the different types of swings to produce similar results |

Here is my newest swing I just recorded an hour ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwEaiabbh8w First off, I notice a huge problem with my spine tilt and head movement. My spine tilt raises up as I complete the downswing and my head is moving all over the place. Other than that, I think the swing is on plane - help me out if I'm wrong. As for the Driver swings...i know you can't see the results but man are the balls flying!! I just bought a new Cleveland Launcher 400 8.5* and even mishits are flying. Really great feeling. Hopefully I can get more yardage, I would really love to stop skying the ball. Btw, this is where I got the idea to change from 2P to 1P: http://www.golfdigest.com/instructio...ingplane4.html

| Re: Broke 90!!! I am very familiear with his book and i saw him at the golf channel in person, nice guy and jacobson is pretty funny matt, you have come a long way since the post of your first swing, a job well done!!! I can see why you have shot some good scores. here are some minor adjustments add a VERY SMALL touch of angle between your arms and club shaft. also, notice at address with your iron shot you can see your left arm Under your right arm, if you bend the right elbow in a little you should see a touch of left arm above the right arrm at address, this willl also help get your shoulders close to square, since currently they are open a little too much. Back swing is a little too long, if you do this in a practice swing it is likely that it is longer in a real swing, and you will run the risk of being pulled out of your spine angle. ALso, your imaginary ball position is a little far back. I am always cautions of grip and I cannot see it well in that video, in hogans book he has good pictures, learn his grip, there is NOTHING more important. lastly, hardy says weight favoring balls of feet, well if hogan was one plane, according to hardy, Hogan says weight favors the heels of our feet, I would go with hogan on that one. so to do this you should stick that booty out a little more and can stand up a little straighter. take care man and I look forward to hearing your scores drop some more, any questions just ask, neil Last edited by shootin4par; 07-29-2006 at 03:54 AM. |

| Re: Broke 90!!! thanks shootin, I'll definitely post a video with your tips ASAP. Some questions though: How would I go about adding more angle between my arms and club shaft? As for shortening my backswing - it's difficult to change for me. Everytime I've tried to do so the results end up in a jerky rather than smooth transition at the top. I'd love to be able to learn how to though. So I should play the ball more center? I was hitting a 7iron btw. Everytime I play the ball more foward in my stance the results are those sky shots I was talking about earlier. Could this be because of my overall spine inconsistency? I ordered Hogan's book yesterday, it should be here sometime next week. I will study everything in it. Will work on the posture. I've always felt more comfortable being more on my heels, but my only thought that usually that changes my mind is the fact that possibly on the downsing, I'd be too far away from the ball if I stayed on my heels. Thanks again as always Shootin. Now if only it wasn't 11pm and I could take some quick videos for more critiquing ![]()

| Re: Broke 90!!! interesting, a simple waggle can help fix things a bit? good to hear. I'm neve all that aware of whether or not I cock or cup my wrists. Basically I don't want to think of my wrists, tension shows up too easily in my hands and then I just grip that club way too tight. I'll try the drill and your tips ASAP. |

| Re: Broke 90!!! Here's the newest one. Worked on what you were talking about Shootin. Felt better, I hit a couple of pinecones (almost hit my dog with one of them, lol) and they flew reasonably well - granted there's no way to judge my ball striking ability that way. What I noticed in this video was that my wrist angle was being released alot sooner than I'd like. I wish there was an easier (non-conciou) way of making sure I don't release my power so early. And on the last swing with the driver, I tried the Cup wrist *RH drill* but that didn't feel comfortable at all. I'm pretty sure it wasn't done as correct as I wanted though. Anyway, here's the vid. http://youtube.com/watch?v=fFAL1rVjXQE
