4 eagles in a day

In 1980 I was playing my regular 4 ball at my club which 6800 yds i egaled all the par 5's the first one was chip-in rest were putts shortist was 10feet the longest was 30 plus ft.I have not had a hole in one in 40years of golf. Thats the bueaty of golf.

I would take 2 eagles over a HIO any day. WOW, what a round. What did you end up?

64-8 under par 72 i also had two birdies one D-bogey.

someone does know how to harness it and he is very rich. They call him tiger

That's incredible. 2 Weeks ago I was with a guy who got an Eagle, and it was a big deal to me. Earlier in the week I was the last one on a golf course, I re-did my round and I was alone. I almost got a hole in one and I thought- damn don't go in - I am alone out here. The ball rested less than two inches from the hole. That puts a stride in your walk for the rest of the game. After all those lessons, the last round was where I saw them finally pay off - I spent too much of my time at the driving ranges, where my lessons were taught.

I hope to get a few more rounds here in Toronto - before the season is out - any thing above zero degrees I can handle.

Nothing worse then playing great by yourself...there's a term for it...it starts with "M".

It was a week before moving to Florida to play pro, and I was practicing every day, all pumped up and excited about this. After a round with my buddies, I went back out for another 9 by myself to work on some things.

I go Bird, Bird, Bird, Eagle. The last was on a par 4...hardest on the course. I'm thinking, "No way. Not now!!! Alone?!?!"

think thats a bit like having one swing though as you walk up to the ball. like slow and smooth, or if a pich, thinking "soft hands" or like you said trying to imagin the shot before you hit it and almost see it in your mind.
think if you only have one though your mind dont get confused about the many things that can go wrong, like the bunker 100yrds out from the green or the water to the right, think one thing only and you swing better through the ball

Wow, thats somegoing, 4 eagles in a day. Ive had 4 eagles and an albatross but all on different days and all on par 4's. Its must be nice to have a day like that. Nice one

There is definitely a huge psychological component to golf, and it is not accidental that we sometimes play better when we are not alone and there isn’t as much pressure on us. Especially for me, since I am the poorest player in my foursome.

Even when I was playing alone no one behind or ahead of me, I was still tense. I thought to myself, this is crazy – totally self-imposed. Today I played the first nine again as opposed to the last 9. It was raining, and the Marshall was cool about it – said have fun. So, for some holes I would shoot as much as eight balls – try a bump and run, and different wedges. It was remarkable. Once I was able to lose some of the tension my shots improved remarkably. Today I started to visualize how putts would go in the arch, line et cetera and it worked for me. When I wanted to pick up he pace and shoot a few fast putts in from a challenging distance I tried doing it while standing on one foot – I would be thinking more about my balance the mechanics of my putts and a lot of them when in; remarkable.

There is a famous and gifted actor, who has since passed away. Before any take in a movie he would say quietly to himself “it’s magic time” and it qued him psychologically, and mentally prepared him for the task (the actor was Jack Lemmon) . Whenever I had to do presentations I would psyche myself up with “its show time’, and I would think of a bank of lights shining on me. It always worked for me. It brought the control to me. I am thinking about doing the same thing with golf – the mental suggestions – to your self can become a self fulfilling prophecy. You can sometime tell how someone is playing by their walk, is it slow and meandering – or is it like Tiger Woods focused and quick. When I am having a good round I notice my walking pace is quicker.

When I am over the ball, and thinking intensely about the mechanics of my swing things mostly go wrong. I do the very thing I am telling myself to avoid. When I am pissed and I drop another ball, and without any thought other than redemption, I make some terrific shots. I would be curious to read about mental preparations, or even things you do or don’t do to help your game

Wow! A hole in one on a par 4 is pretty good going! How long was it?

It was 296 yards to the front of the green so I suppose it was about 304 intotal. I always hoped I would get a HIO and thought it would come on a par 3 never a par 4. Still cant believe it now.
