hi ben
it will be there for a while yet!
no facility to submit cards from social round and i cant replicate that form in the club comps
as a matter of interest i enter all my scores into an online handicap tracker that currently has me at 18.2

Great stuff Slats.

Only 7 to go to break that magic barrier. Does your software give you any idea where those final shots are being lost?

Re: 43! what a great number

Cheers mate; I've actually seen that one before - tbh my problem is working up the enthusiasm to keep the stats as I go round.

PPR is easy enough and I do that.

I'm also thinking about tracking "approaches" [not necessarily GIR because I might not get the tee shot away] but how often I hit the green from 100 and out and how often I miss.

Until both of those stats improve I can't be bothered with the rest.

Enjoy Carnoustie.

Re: 43! what a great number

Sorry about the belated congrats Slats - great to hear - well done!

Robin, if keeping stats is a pain, then wireless18 is the most painless way of doing it. You just press * on your mobile, and they slot right in painlessly, then hit 'upload' and they're there on the website straight away. No writing down, no fuss, no probs. Diamond.

Re: 43! what a great number

Stats here is what I did, and still do. Use one score card just for you, first line under your name, put a +/- for under over par, then on the next line put FH/GR for fairway hit, green in regulation, you put a 1 or a - in it (looks like this -/- missed both or 1/- fairway hitm missed green or 1/1 hit both), then on the next line putts. This way after the round you can see exactly what you did, count up the putts, number of fairways hit and greens in reg. very easy, after a few rounds you just do automatically. Your shooting for 14 FH and 18 GR, 26 -30 puts. Good luck

Re: 43! what a great number

Just to play Devil's Advocate...

Having entered my course details on the Wireless1`8 website (or searched to see if it already exists), I download the course details to my mobile (only needs doing once).

Then, each round, choose 'New round', and confirm I need the same two players as last time - me and another fictitious player called 'Total length of holed putts' (Have recently been in touch with the coders and I believe this will soon be unecessary as they're going to add it as an extra field.

At this stage, any extras like Match play, skins, nassau, etc, can be added.

Then play!

On 2nd tee, my mobile comes out (on silent, of course), I explain out of courtesy to the other players that I'm using my phone as a scorecard, not being rude enough to chek my texts in front of them! I enter my score, and the length of the putt, then go back up to my score and press *, which takes me through to the details.

I press 1 to cycle through the options of Tee shot - FIR, Right rough, Left rough, etc

then down to approach shot - again, GIR, Sand (Saved or not?), chipped on, etc, then down to number of putts.

* gets me back to the main screen, and then I press key lock to show me the points so far.

Awesome package. Absolutely awersome. The detail is fabulous, and the way it works on any cellphone, and then uploads straight to the web is a godsend.

I can't recommend it enough

Sorry to threadjack, Slats

Re: 43! what a great number

Howdy...

Just adding my belated congrat's on the 86, Pedro...

Here's a question for you to ponder, why the good score when on a social outing and then bigger numbers when playing in the club comps...?

The answer (for me at least) might lie in that most troublesome of courses, the 5 or so inches between our ears...

However you manage it, once you take your social mind set out on to the course in a club round, the score will reflect...

Good luck when next you go out...

Cheers

Re: 43! what a great number

Well done on the score Slats.

I want you to promise me something, ie, next comp round I want you not to worry about the score. Just think of what you have to do next. Ask yourself 'what do I have to do now?'. This will help you refocus.

Good hitting and win the GTO Open for the plod.
