| Best shot this year? Okay folks, how about a thread about your best shot this year, be it a par saving bunker shot, a 300 yard drive or a long putt, this is the place to tell everyone. Here goes: Mine must be an 8i tee shot (opening shot for my round) on a par 3, I hit it so sweetly and it stopped dead on landing on the green, 6 feet from the pin. It is my best shot as I was really struggling with my game and I put quite a bit of time at the range in, especially with the irons. I was faced with a tee raised 30 feet above the green, it was my first swing of the day and when I connected with the ball it felt so pure. Unfortunately I didn't convert the birdie putt, I forgot the rule that on a wet dewy green putts will break less, the ball went right down my intended line but didn't break the 2 inches I expected and sat on the lip. Who's next?

| Re: Best shot this year? I went to the local 4 star course (1 hour away). Played brutal. Came home, played the mens night event. Played brutal. On the last hole (par 3) the yardage was 168 to the flag. I hit a smooth 6 that landed on the front, rolled up, and stopped 10" from the pin. The reason this is the best is that I won $350 for CTP (there's a 2 foot circle around the pin), and didn't have to buy on the busiest night of the week! (Which just goes to show that they DO pay for the shot of the week).

| Re: Best shot this year? I'd have to say my best shot this year was a tee shot. I know most peoples will be an approach shot. I'd been spraying my driver so I switched to hitting my 3 iron, which still allows me to reach almost any green here in regulation. We're on a 540 yard par 5. Wind was blowing strong behind me and the fairways were pretty hard. I hit the most solid high draw shot I think I've ever hit. Landed on the right edge of the fairway and caught the slope. When all said and done. Went about 330 yards....did I mention that was with a 3 iron. 7 iron next to the green chip 2 putt for birdie. ![]()

| Re: Best shot this year? I've had a couple really great shots this year one a long par 4 number 6 at my home course i hit the stick and it landed about 3 inches away and i knocked it in for birdie. Also just recently i hit a 25 foot putt that broke about 7 1/2 feet for my first eagle ever, and 1 week ago i hit a flop shot in for birdie on the par 3 7th after flying the green long, and the green slightly slopes towards the water away from me so if you don't have good touch the ball with fly past the hole. Those have to be my 3 favorite shots so far this year. Still waiting for that first ace.

| Re: Best shot this year? My Best Shoot Was On Last Thursday Not One But About Nine Of Them...chipping For The First Time In My Short Career As Golfer (two Years) I Was Able To Stop The Damn Ball In A Dime And Few Of Them With A Slight Backspin About Two Footers. It Was A Nice Round Really Nice |

| Re: Best shot this year? Err - mine was probably last night. My drive was close to the corner of the dogleg, leaving me probably 60 from the pin, but with the trees on the dogleg blocking me. There was a low punch on - maybe a 4H - but the fairway sloped away down to a bunker. Still, I thought it would squeeze under the branches, and got the club out ready. When I looked at it, I actually thought there was a shot to the flag. It woiuld need a hell of a pickup, and the only thing that was going to do it was a full swing with my 64* lob wedge, and that club has so much bounce that I've been thinning everything with it and only tend to use it in bunkers. Nevertheless, I gave a right drilling, and sure enough, it pops up beautifully, straight at the pin, 10 feet past. Like I said, it wasn't that close, but it was a really ballsy shot with a club I'm afraid to use, and it did exactly what I visualised

| Re: Best shot this year? think ive had 2 in one night played heaton park tonight, its a very hilly course where even lies are as common as rocking horse sh*t my 1st one came at the 12th 382yd par 4, id hit a decent drive over the valley to the top of the rise with 150 to the pin the ball was below my feet and the wind was blowing left to right i took aim slightly left and just made a real nice smooth swing, at first i thought it was too far left but it gently faded back right, it landed softly and rolled towards the pin leaving me a 3 inch putt for a birdie ![]() the 2nd was a drive on the 18th 289yd par 4. i took my time setting up i made a full backswing and just swung smoothly through the ball. it went arrow straight and landed 20yds short but just managed to roll up enough to get through the fringe, 2 putts to finish with a birdie ![]()

| Re: Best shot this year? Am I allowed to volunteer the range session I just had as 'best shot of the year' - using the pile of balls 200 yards away as my result? Who would have thought that two simple moves - turn my chest away from target, turn my hips left - would have produced these powerful, penetrating, repeatable shots over and over? |

| Re: Best shot this year? Hit a beauty this w/end. 24 degree hybrid to 6.5 feet to set up birdie. Best bit is that I really thought through the shot and took an extra club and ended up pin high. I need to think more on the course but I get so hung up on making a good swing I often hit a shot short and then think, "of course, the pin is at the back, or it was into a head wind".
