Re: golf girls

Hi Danielle. My name is Tina. I'm a new member and was psyched when I saw the category "ladies lounge) Big disappointment there!! It's nice to know that there is at least one other female out there who wants to talk golf (and clothes ). I've been golfing for about 4 years now and am completely addicted to the sport. I live in Massachusetts so the cold weather (no snow yet) and the shorter number of daylight hours has really gotten in the way of my playing and practicing as much as I like. How long have you been playing? How often do you play? How much money do you spend on golf clothing in a year (.....just kidding with that one!!)?
Hope to talk to you soon.
Tina

Thumbs up Re: golf girls

Hello, I too have just got into golf and I bought myself a set of RAM concept X graphite clubs, bag, etc's yesterday. I had been hiring or playing with my husbands clubs before now- very variable results!!! Quite tricky to decide on a set as a beginner.

I spent this morning on the driving range- only woman at the time! I wondered if there were any ladies forums around, then found this one-sorry but I was rather disappointed by the amount of lady input at the moment! I hope it picks up.

What is a fair distance for a woman to hit, say after playing for a year? At the moment I feel reasonable happy with the contact but somehow I'm making the ball swing off to the left at the end of its flight. I'll book some lessons soon when I've recovered form the club purchase!!

Would love to see more ladies comments and topics, there must be a massive number of lady golfers surfing. Hope to hear from you. Thanks

Re: golf girls

Hi Sally

Good to know that there is another girl around. I have played only for 10 months and thoroughly enjoys it. I got some Kunnan clubs from the States as I am left handed and it is quite difficult to source in the UK unless I wanted to spend hundreds of pounds in Callaways or so on. I am very pleased with them.
I am not very consistant with my game. When I am relaxed I play well otherwise forget it.
I don't hit very far, 150m with my 3 wood but provided it goes straight I don't care that much about the distance. I prefer to get it straight then improve on the distance later
However I found it quite difficult to meet other ladies to play golf with as I am not a member of a club and have a 9 to 5 job. The ladies at the club where I play meet on Monday morning which I cannot do.

And you how often do you play/practice?

Marie-Luce

Re: golf girls

Hello ladies (and gents too?) I posted to this thread so long ago I forgot
it existed. I have now been playing for four seasons. I live in the NE are
of these United States so seasons run 6-7 months for me. I have seen
gradual improvements. I've gone from being a 38 handicap (or higher when
I started) to a 23 now. When I started out with a beginner's set of women's clubs, I drove the ball (and I mean the good one's) approx. 150 yards.Consistency was a greater issue than the distance. Making contact and keeping the ball in play was my only concern. Now, I try to work with
distance too but that has come because my swing has improved. A perfectly struck ball will travel anywhere from 175-250 yards off the tee...depending on roll. I currently hit custom made driver and woods. A very good friend of mine builds clubs and made the Tom Wishon driver and woods for me. Ultra lite graphite shafts and Winn grips. My irons are the Nike slingshots. I really like those a lot too and I have an Odyssey two ball blade putter. My short game is really the part of my game that needs to be worked on now. I belong to a club so finding women to play with is not too difficult but I like playing with men too. It betters my game and they are not concerned with how you're playing...they are working on their own game.
By the way, Sally, I can't tell you how many times I've been the only woman on the driving range. The ONLY thing that bothers me when that
happens is that men have a tendency to want to help me or give me advice
on my swing, etc. That drives me crazy...I don't ask and I know they wouldn't do it if I were a man. Oh well. I just smile and say thank you and ask them if they'd like me to watch them swing to see if I can give them any pointers!!
Happy holidays!

Re: golf girls

Hi

I bought my set from e-bay 4 months ago. I am very pleased with them. They are Kunnan, well known brand, they make shafts for everybody else.
I bought them from the States, delivery was fast and I got a really good deal on the courier charge. Make sure you check the reviews from the seller first.

Good luck

Re: golf girls

Thanks Crazyfrog. I will be asking the pro at my club today about some Nike Cprs. Emailed the guy who is selling them (seems to be very reputable guy) and he said they'd be pretty good for me (he had a few sets there for auction). They r in the states but will see how I go. Thanks for the advice!
