Where are you all?

Where in the world are all the lefty golfers on this site? I joined this to get another view of how the game is played but I don't see anything new nor anything much of an interest from lefties over there. There isn't much in the USA on the left side of the ledger either. We seem to be pretty much outcasts in the golf world. I am self taught like a lot of lefties and the lack of interest from those of us on "the other side of the ball" seems just as poor abroad.

Re: Where are you all?

It's a tough go, for sure.

Every instruction article is written for the right hander, and most equipment choices are RH as well.

Re: Where are you all?

hi
there are a lot of left handed people that play right handed. Lee Trevino and V G Singh are two that i know off. V G plays just as good left handed as he does right.
sorry i don't know of any left handed golf sites.
cheers
bill

Re: Where are you all?

I always try to say "Leading" and "Trailing" when referring to extrematies's referrance position.

That's all a lefty needs. Everything else is the same...except maybe...the side of the brain that is more logical in intrepeting the instruction. (I am a lefty, but play right...best of both worlds)

Re: Where are you all?

hi Greg
do you think along the same lines as Lee Trevino in that right handed people should use left handed clubs and left handers should use right handed clubs and play with there strong arm leading.
cheers

Re: Where are you all?

I do as it is a slight advantage...but by no means absolute. Phil is a righty, and is probably a rare crossover example from R-to-L, and a good example at that.

Re: Where are you all?

hi Greg
i did not know Phil was a righty but i knew Trevino had been saying that we all play with the wrong clubs since the 70s and if it did not cost so much to change i think i would of tried going with left hand clubs.
cheers

Re: Where are you all?

I know a few lefties (Cack Handers ) who play right. They both use their right hands on the top of the grip though.

Re: Where are you all?

I'm southpaw for everything in my life, but play sports right handed.

I think it comes from playing hockey as a kid, where you want your dominant hand on the top of the stick. This, by nature, puts your non-dominant hand lower down on the stick.

Re: Where are you all?

rgolfnut is a lefty. When I teach her I do my best to get it right but sometimes I mess up and she catches my ignorance.

She is the first lefty I have taught on a regular basis.

I do most things well with either hand but have never played golf left handed.
