| I'm a lefty playing right. Been going to the range almost every weekend for a year now, interspersed with lessons. My swing got consistant a couple of months back. Shots are straight but I can't shape them yet. My 7 iron is 110 yards and I'm 5'6" and 171lbs. I have the nagging feeling that I may have latent power in my right side that I can't evoke. My theory is that my right muscles' sensitivity is underdeveloped that they cant fully command all the finer muscles to provide precision which in turn translate to power. An example. If you are a righty. Hold an iron by the head and dribble a golf ball with the grip end. Then switch to your left hand. There is waaay less coordination. Appreciate anyone in or been in similar situation before who'd like to share OR 110 yards is just about right OR my fundamental needs more work OR I'd better off playing left OR keep ho'ing till I find the magic ![]() |

| Re: Strengthening the Right of a Lefty Quote:
FWIW 3 of the par 3's at my course are between 163 and 168 yds and i use my 7 iron for those tee shots! i would suggest 110yds is quite a bit short with a 7 iron |

| Re: Strengthening the Right of a Lefty Hi, You should be able to hit further, that's an average pitching wedge distance I have created three posts in the "Create an article" section of this site, the following addresses creating more swing speed and ball distance: http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/c...ath-111-a.html (Plane and Path 111) There are two other articles there that may help "Plane & Path 1" and "Plane & Path 11" I hope this assists you? | Re: Strengthening the Right of a Lefty Thanks gentlemen, for the replies. Golfingguy, Lefty equipment is pretty hard to come in my part of the woods. But, the main reason was my believe that I can start afresh without the need to worry about the 'domineering side' issue. Something I read and heard about. Brian, Thanks for the link. Bet there's gems for me in your link. Slates, The video is a good idea and I'll try to get one up soonest. Still nursing some torn and stretched rib muscles. Been out of action for a month now and the missus is worried why am I cuddling a driver every time I take a nap With appreciation, Red. |
