Smile watching the ball

Keeping the head rigid-no, but if you focus on the ball-not being ball bound-just making sure the head doesn't move too far off the ball, you will always hit a decent shot. Why? You have a much better chance of returning the clubhead to where it was at address, which is hopefully square.
How?
At address, if your shoulders are over your knees and your knees are over your shoe laces, you are square-now just keep that relationship thoughout the swing. No lifting up or lunging down-keep the same angle.

Re: watching the ball

hi takinitdeep
with me i like to look about 12 inches in front of the ball as this helps set my spine angle to lean back a little and have my head tilted a little too.
i also find i don't want to ball watch so my head don't look up when i hit the ball but I try and watched the club go past the point I'm looking at 12 inch in front of the ball. i find it works really well for me.
cheers
bill

Maybe we're saying the same thing here, but surely the main reason is it anchors the pivot point of the shoulders?

Re: watching the ball

hi
i think if you focus on the ball you think of that as the impact and your body thinks the swing is over when you make contact with the ball and sometimes slows just before impact, this happens more with little chip shots where you don't follow through. that why i think of the impact about 6 inches in front of the ball as i feel i am still accelerating to that point and the ball just gets in the way, i also think that my neck it the center point that my body swings around and that keeps my head steady and like takinitdeep said its steady but not ridged, like an anchor point like bullgog said.
