Exclamation I know how to gaining more distance with driver(not cheapest way in beginning)

Okay well to start off I'm doing this from my iPod Touch. I'm about 6'1" and I was 14 at the time(2 months ago ) and where I live there can be a lot of wind. There can be so much that if you have a small fade and aim 60+ yds. left of the water, it just might end up in the water. Well it was pretty windy that day and I was on the driving range practicing the Mike Austin swing with my Power Hitter. Before I would average about 230-240 but now I would average about 250. Well my coach, another freshman, and I stepped up to our first hole. Before we hit, my coach said," It would be funny if one of us drives the green. No. It wouldn't be funny, it would be awesome." The hole was about 400 yds. straight. Thing is, he said that before I hit. I aimed towards the trees on the left because I thought I would hit my usual fade. Well I hit it left and the ball is barely above the trees and it stayed left with a 25 mph wind helping it. We went to where we thought it was and it wasn't there! So we kept going and I knew it hadn't gone this far. Well my coach comes up to this ball 20 yds left of the green and asked me what ball I was playing. I told him then he said not to screw up my next shot. I thought he was lying until I checked the ball. IT WAS MY BALL. Well I got it on in 2 and of all things, I FOUR PUTTED!!!! I GOT DOUBLE BOGEY AFTER A 400 YD DRIVE!!! I SPEND MOST OF MY TIME PUTTING!!! Well my point is if you want more distance get Mike Austin: Secrets from the Game's Longest Hitter and the Power Hitter to reinforce that swing.

Well it was like one of those freak things that happens. Like with Mike Austin and his 515 yd drive. I had hit the ball hard but to me it didn't seem hard. But I did have the help with the wind so I can't take all the credit. The ground is pretty hard and other guys have driven the green so I'm not the only one.

Re: I know how to gaining more distance with driver(not cheapest way in beginning)

I had a mike austin moment once as well. I usually hit 280ish and on a 400 yrd green i couldn't find my ball, it hit it dead strait. turns out it was 30-40 yrd from the green so i hit it about 360-370, my guess is it hit a sprinkler head or some rock or something. but who knows, maybe I really did have a 515 MA moment happen for me, as you might have too.

For you it was the sprinkler head and for me it was the wind. I've never hit a shot like that. Although I did make an interesting birdie in a tournament. Yet again the wind comes into play. I got on the green in 2 and the wind was howling. I hit the ball a little too firmly and the ball goes in the hole. Then it bounced out on the other side. The wind picks up and brings it back in. Two coaches saw it. One was from a high school I wanted to go to instead of the one I am at because I've always gone for that school since I was in kindergarten.

OT It would be nice if people would post their MA moments.

OT this forum is much different than the online gaming forums that I go to. Kids there mouth off to others but here it's nice because we are all civil.

Nice drive, too bad you won't remember the hole lol. Same thing happened to Mike Austin when he hit his 515 yd drive. He hit it over the green, chipped on and 3 putted for a bogey. Great drive though, keep up the distance you'll prolly be top on your team in a few years.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN I WON'T REMEMBER THE HOLE?!?!?!?!?!?!
It's easy to remember the hole I hit that 400 yd drive. It's the first hole at my course .

BTW my coach says that I have the distance but I need to learn the fundamentals on scoring. He says that in by my junior year I will be the best in my team.

What I mean is that you won't remember it as a good hole only an amazing drive. But hey, your one of a select few that have hit it 400 yds. Listen to your coach he's prolly right.
