| How high is too high? Hi everyone. This question is kind of covered in many of the other posts but I think its worth asking. I read recently that a top pro's ball reaches its maximum height at 70% of the distance it travels. I am wondering when you can tell that the ball is flying to high and perhaps a stiffer shaft should be considered for a better trajectory. Also has there been any research into how long a golf ball stays in the air on the average drive of say a PGA player or Long drive champ and could this also be used as a judge? On the callaway clip from this years remax long drive championship David Mobley's ball flew for 7.4 seconds covering 377 yds!

| Re: How high is too high? That apex @ 70% of flight is called a 'tour' trajectory - a teardrop shaped ball flight. Too high is purely subjective, IMO. I prefer a higher ball flight, as my swing doesn't allow for putting a ton of spin on the ball (so I'll use height to help stop my ball). |

| Re: How high is too high? Thanks for the reply LowPost42, i just want to highlight that i'm talking purely about hitting long drives. I realise you don't want the same approach with a lofted club that you want to stop on a dime. Tour trajectory huh? I'll have to look into that cheers |

| Re: How high is too high? Hunt up some trajectory software - the folks at myostrichgolf.com have some for free (I don't remember where on the site you find it). You plug in your swing speed and club loft and club weight, and the software does the rest. |
