Driving tip's

I recently got a 983 9.5 and I'm hitting really low with this. Never really had a problem getting the ball up before.

I went to get fitted for irons yesterday and before I left I had him check my driver with the launch moniter. I was told that my launch angle was in the 8 degree mark and I should be between 10 and 13. He had me hit a 12 degree driver and that was only getting to the 11 degree launch. He noticed I had too strong of a grip, my swing was slightly out to in but I had the clubface really closed at impact playing off of left heel.

Any tip's to help try to get some height back into it?

Thx

You could have a sway.

When i was launching it too low i had a big sway. When i stopped swaying i got back the height in my ball flight. Jus an idea

Re: Driving tip's

just a thought, you might be delaying your release too long? If you say your grip is strong and the ball goes low then it sounds like a case of the club face being too closed at impact.

It could be a number of things however. When ever I have a problem I always review the basics. That is the grip, your correct pivoting during the swing(left leg, right leg)
and alignment. Hit the ball at 75% of power and see what happens. Often a slow well coordinated swing is very good I find. It'll give you the right feel for the shot.
As you get back to a good swing gradually turn up the power until you can rip it.

Re: Driving tip's

The out to in path is a result of your ball position. When the ball is moved further forward (more than it should be) your shoulder alignment rotates to the left. Couple with a strong grip NO GOOD. Rotate your V'S (created by your fore finger and thumb) in between your chin and your right shoulder. The strong grip will close the clubface sending the ball lower. Also check your kickpoint in the shaft of your driver. Most stock shafts have a mid to high kick point. The higher the kick point the lower the ball flight. Aim for a lower kick point, or a more lofted driver. What is your swing speed? You benefit from a 10.5 driver.

Re: Driving tip's

I use a 9.5 deg 983K with a Grafalloy Prolite shaft and it is designed to hit the ball a little lower butI don't feel that I'm losing distance. Bear in mind that the club is also designed with a draw bias so if the clubhead is closed at impact then then the result is most likely a low pull.

One of the benefits of the design is that you can open the angle of the clubface every so slightly and it will hit the ball higher and straight with perhaps a touch of fade.

It might be that the club is not ideal for your swing but try experimenting with moving the ball forward and back in your stance and the hand position in relation to the ball and see how this effects the ball flight. You might find that one particular combination provides the higher flight you are looking for.
