Cool General Distance

Hi. I am nearly 67 years old, play golf lefthanded off a handicap of 13.
Some time ago I bought a new driver which is slightly offset. Since then I have pulled almost every shot which occasionly is a hook. I went back to the pro I bought the club from and he said I was standing too near the ball. I now stand further away but the problem is only slightly better.
Before a bought this club I did have a small slice rather than a hook.
Can anyone help me to try and reduce or overcome this problem.

Re: General Distance

What were the shafts for the old vs new driver?

Re: General Distance

Exactly what I was thinking Greg....

here is my guess....

old shaft was a stiff shaft ( note it might have said regular and still be a stiff) that didn't allow you to get through the ball with a slower swing.

New driver which he chose for you is probably a senior flex (which could be even more whippy than what a true senior flex is), this shaft sounds like it might be TOO flexible and is causing the club to whip over and through during the swing.

THE EASIEST EXPLANATION IS OFTEN THE SIMPLIEST. I would check the shaft flex of your old and new driver first and then go from there.
