Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

I am just learning to hit straight by keeping my palm down during impact with my head still look at the impact until i release it though it.

My issue now is i was so worried not to go over the plane during down swing i slow down a little.

I wanted to bring down my club with one single move. Still working on it.

By hitting straight my handicap will down from 90+ to low 80s immediately as i have more imagination to play short game and putting.

I have seen many people who hits so long and straight with fast temp always had problem in Golf course. They hook the ball at wrong time.

Hope i will master my Golf swing soon. It will be life long goal.

Is there a back calculation to find out how much swing speed based on distance on driver?.

or cheap swing speed indicator?

Thanks
Alexk

another thing I found today is this formula, seems decetly accurate...

swing speed X 2.4

ie 125mph *2.4= 300yds

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

I think i saw what you mean by a rifle shot.

That was the most amazing thing i have ever seen!!! some guy at the driving range hit a ball (no exageration) 3-9 feet off the gound for 200 yards, then after that is started to rise up off the groung at about 20 then 30 then 40 degree trajectory climbing higher and higher up till about 100 feet high untill i couldn't see it any longer. it had to have gone 320, unitll it hit the end of the driving range. i have seen a more impressive distance before, but this trajectory was amazing! the greatest punch shot ever, that would cut right through the wind. he had a 10*loft. then i saw him hit his 15* 3W same thing 3-9'. has anyone ever seen that before or can explain that?

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

the fact that the ball uses ballistics to fly and then aerodynamics i know.... that is why square path goes strait but open face slices. because it goes strait ballistically then the aerodynamics take over and the sidespin takes over.

that means this guy hit the ball so hard that it was a ballistical flight for 200yds then the aerodynamics of the ball took over and it climbed. and he did it time after time after time. with such a high ball speed to go that far ballistacally i think he could have had a much farther hit if he hit it on a 14* launch angle as oppesed to a 1*, maybe 380+, but it his shot would work great for a punch shot.

i guess my ultaimat question is how to get such a low ballistic trajectory. hitting down on the ball will make it run up the face and go up and hitting up on it will obviously hit it up, so how does one hit a 10* driver at less than 1* launch angle???

anyones opinions on this are welcome

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

i looked up online and i think thoose shots are called windcheater. i looked how do do thoose, i tried, but i couldn't do them and they make no sense to me. they talked about delofting the club so that you hit the ball low and the ball starts low ans rises. but even if you had a 0 lofted club and hit it strait and low how would it get backspin to raise near the end?

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

I don't know. I am just curious from people who hit those shot. I just want to know how the club face moves after impact....

I am just assuming though... my ball has arc in it. it goes straight but still it has somekind of arc.

if you find out, let me know.

I also believe it is due to more than 120 mph club speed.

Mine is probably around 100mph. So i may not be able to hit flat trajectory.

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

well i know how to hit it like a rifle, yes it does take a ton of club head speed..... all it is is backspin on the ball makes it rise, the reason it flies strait before it start rising is becaue of the ballisical trajectory before the aerodynamics can work.

didn't mean to hyjack you thread, but i was talking about how to hit a wind-cheater. the same shot as the rifle you are talking about, but it is about 1* launch angle.

people hit rifle shots all the time, it is just ahrder to see becaue of the lack of call speed the ball is only ballistic for 50yrds or so.

a slice is just a rifle shot but instead of backspin after the ballistic trajectory flight is gone there is side spin.

that is why when you see a pro hit a bad slice, it still goes real far, becuase of the ballistical flight.

you understand what i am saying or no?

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

what kind of shaft/club do you have? if you want to hit thoose kind of shots you basically just need backspin so you want it to be aflexible shaft and have a lowkickpoint and have high torque and high loft. that is all it takes to hit a tour trajectory shot. you just dont want too flexible or low kickpoint ect if your SS is high because then the ball will ballon and fall way short. you get around 3600rpms and that will happen. the only differnce between tour pros and most is that they have a very long flight before the ball starts lifting.

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

although it may look neat i don't konw if it is all that great of a shot. here are some stats i found on last years senior div long drive.

ball speed 194mph 11* 1257rpm =366yds

ball speed 195mph 13* 2808rpm =350yds

so the guy with the lower rpm (backspin) hit it longer because of the (16yrd) (carries were actually the exact same) roll he got versus the guy with the 1mph higher ball speed and higher launch angle, but becaues of his high rpm, (even lower than the recommended 3400 rpm i hear about) and he still hit it 16 yds shorter because his bal ballooned up and had no roll at all. so i don't think tour trajectory is all that great.

Re: How do you hit golf ball like a rifle shot?

I found this real cool website which i have tested (with real life hits and distances) and is extremely acurate

http://www.sonicboomgolf.com/virtual...h_monitor2.php

shows you the optimum launch angle for ball speed and spin and temp and location (elavation) and wind speed. it also shows the trajectory of the ball so you can find out your optimum flight path and see how to get that tour trajectory shot you wanted with your swing speed

Some very good points you raised here skywalker. I especially liked the comparison between this trajectory vs the slice - that was a good perspective!

Bottomline, only if you are able to hit it fast enough that the first portion of the flightpath is bullet-straight before the backspin kicks in, then you will be able to get this kind of trajectory, right?

according to that site I should carry over 300 yards, if that is true I need to get fitted for another driver
