Red face Plz tell me how to fix my setup

Ok. the 3 things i have been told i do when adressing the ball off the tee.

Shoulders facing left.
Feet Facing right.
Weak grip.

Now. shoulders facing left, would that just be me placing the ball too far forward in my stance.?

i should also add. the last few weeks i've been a chronic slicer. hitting it high and right (right hander). When i transfer my weight forward i draw it to the left.

I have a Taylormade R5 stiff shaft, 8.5d loft.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks
jase

Re: Plz tell me how to fix my setup

Shoulders facing left with your feet to the right.... May I ask why you do this and who taught you this?

As for your driver...I would recommend a more flexible shaft with a higher degree of loft. Most tour pros play higher than 8.5 now.

I only play a 9.5 due to having the R7. I have it set up for max draw, helps close the clubface for me.

First of all get rid of 8.5 driver, even the pros use 10 or 10.5. I would strongly recommend you go to a pro and ask him to view your setup. Dont listen to others. even though they mean well, they will totally confuse you with different sugesstions. Believe me, it happened to me!
Regards,
Robert

Good, someone agrees with me

Im a huge TaylorMade fan. My cousin, a golf pro, is on TM staff. TM doesnt even make retail drivers with less than 9.5 degrees anymore.

The main reason, the balls these days are insane.

Re: Plz tell me how to fix my setup

One of the biggest problems I see with peoples set up is they tend to place the club head directly behind the ball at address. Their feet, and hips are usually square to their target line. But, if their ball position is too far forward, and they place the club head directly behind the ball, their shoulders will be open. Too far back in the stance with the club head directly behind the ball, and their shoulders will be closed. GJS

Re: Plz tell me how to fix my setup

i went 8.5 degree because i tend to hit the ball high.... very high

as for shoulders facing left and feet facing right. no one taught me this. i guess it's just a bad habit i've learnt.

my swing speed is around 98mph which is why i have the stiff shaft, generally when i go regular shaft i "will" slice. all my irons and clubs are stiff shaft. this is what everyone has recommended for me.

if you have no right elbow bend then yest a forward ball position will open the shoulders, but I can put a six iron off my front foot and not open my shoulders because i have a bent right elbow at address

Re: Plz tell me how to fix my setup

Without even seeing your swing, from your description, you are swinging outside-in the target line with an open clubface relative to the target. In addition, the height comes from casting the club - the clubhead gets ahead of the hands, so your left wrist is broken down at impact increasing the loft of the club. You probably need to have a pro or expert golfer review your grip, alignment and stance. It will feel weird, so have patience.

Re: Plz tell me how to fix my setup

well i have seamed to have fixed my swing.

just had to move the ball back in my stance, which actually made it inline with the inside of my front foot. squared me up and i hit the ball low and long.

went out and shot 42 on the front nine today (i'm a handicap 20). shot 91 for the round. but damn hitting it straight off the tea makes the game easy.
