Long Drive grip

Experimenting and found having left hand weaker on club and right hand turned so back knuckles face ground and finger tips are up, produces great speed and good squaring of the clubface.
Anyone else?

Actually, this is an old wives tale. Having the v's pointing at the same point is contrary to what long drivers, teachers and others teach these days. Take a look at bubba, jbholmes, villegas, daly,shawn the beast, and others do

If your ball is flying pretty wel, your grip is ok. If you keep fooling with your grip you will find yourself making a mistake on your backswing to correct for the new grip and then you will make mistakes on your downswing to compensate for the mistake you made on your backswing.

If you address the ball with anything other than a NEUTRAL GRIP it is impossible to get the clubface square at impact unless you have altered your backswing or downswing to compensate and this will eventually lead to serious swing problems in the future....I'm pretty sure Greg and Shottin4par will back me up on this.......

If I want to hit a draw, I grip strong left hand and right hand knuckles down.
If I want to hit a fade, I grip with weak left hand and right hand knuckles up.
Mostly, I just grip with weak left hand and knuckles down, average carry is 260 plus roll.

True . to hit a draw , or a fade your grip must change . but so has your body alignment to compensate.

To prove my point. Stand upright and hold your club at arms length (chest height). Now weaken the grip ( knuckles of right hand facing down ) . now slowly swing ( baseball style ) around your body and then swing back to start position. i gaurantee the club face wil be shut. this is because your hands always return to their natural position , regardless of how you grip the club at address. I agree, you are right, with the grip that he stated it seems like he is talking about too extreme. If you go too extreme then your hands will battle each other for control. Left hand weak, right hand neutral. left hand neutral, right hand strong those would not be bad, but if you go left hand weak right hand strong, timing can then become a issue

i know what a stron left hand looks like with the 3 or more knicles showing, but what does a weak right hand look like, same thing with knucles.... or in the direction of the strong left hand making the v's line up?

a weak right hand would be when the V points at your chin or left of it, to the right of it would be stronger

so that means left hand thumb up and right hand thumb more right? does a stronger grip in either hand promote a faster realease?

why do most long drive competitor have a neatralor strong grip? i have neve seen a LD competitor with a weak grip

in the thumbs, you never want them straight down the shaft, this will release wrist cock. the thumb of hte left hand is on the back side of the grip, right thumb is on the front

thumbs striat down the shaft is a very weak grip yes?

whether the grip be weak or nuetral, you dont want the thumbs straight down the shaft, this can be a big swing killer
