Short Thumb postion or Long Thumb position?

Guys the pros are teaching the late Tiger release so it only begs to ask the questsion do you lay your left hand thumb along the club or do you put pressure on the last joint and have a short thumb.

For a measure a short thumb will only have the thumb half an inch further down the club that the fingers where a long thumb will have an inch or up to two inches futher down the club than the index finger.

With a long thumb you can cock your wrist just that bit futher than a short thumb and in theory get more of a late release. To be honest the long thumb is the only way I can get the angle between the club and my left hand to be less than 90 degrees like tiger.
