driver set up hi all can anyone give me some help with a proper set up when hitting driver? i am striking the ball solidly with every single one of my clubs except driver i just cant seem to groove a consistent set up with driver? is there a drill to ensure i am always the correct distance away from the ball. i tried the set up laid out in the lessons section on this site but it just doesnt seem to work with this club any advice greatly appreciated ![]()

Re: driver set up Guys, Remember, the driver is struck with an upward blow, whereas the iron hits down. My advice is play it off left heel, stance slightly wider than shoulders, and make sure everything is square to the target i.e. eyes, shoulders, knees, feet. Last bit, a tilt of the spine to the right and away you go. If this doesnt help I dont know what will

Re: driver set up If you can drop your left hand off the club at set up, and have enough distance to pass this hand between the shaft and your thigh, then that is right distance. Also, try and imagine you are sitting on a bar stool as this will encourage good shape in your posture and create the right swing olane for the driver.

Re: driver set up hi slater check your hitting the sweep spot as you can lose 20 yards with hitting it out near the toe or heel, the modern driver is so forgiving you might not see or feel its in the heel or toe, try talc on the club face to show where your striking the ball. if you down about 20ish yards thet might be what it is, i set up with the ball out near the toe of my driver and it hits in the sweep spot when i set up like that. bill

I check my distance by gripping the driver as normal but hold it towards my belt and set the club down on the floor. Then I set the right side of the driver so that it is 1 cm away from the left side of the tee'd ball. So when I move the driver outwards from my belt, so that the middle of the face is in line with the ball my left arm becomes straight. When I know that my distance is correct I set up my stance. Hope it helps Cheers Mark |
