Well, its most likely a path problem (either extreme, too inside-out or outside-in). I had this problem with my wedges for a short period, and it was a combo of standing too close to the ball & a very severe inside-out swingpath. I still flight a too inside-out swingpath. Here is how I work on it.

1) Takeaway - I like this drill. Put a water bottle, with about 1 inch of water in it, about 1-2 feet behind your ball (depends on the club and your size). On your takeaway, you want to knock over the bottle of water. Simple as that. Makes you take the club back low and slow. You can even do this AND THEN hit the ball. Works pretty nice. Been using it a lot lately.

2) Path - I like the Gate Drill. Set up 2 tees 6 inches apart. Make slow practice swings through the gate without hitting the tees. I even take it as far as to make sure the leading edge of the club face is square to the line created by the tees. After practicing, you can then set up a ball dead center between the tees and practice hitting the ball without hitting the tees.

Re: Help! ball keeps hitting the hosel on my driver!

Technical name = shank.
Outcome = bad.

I actually broke the heads off two drivers on back to back holes with this shot.

I had a lunge with an over the top move which is a bad combination.
Did you buy this draw biased driver because you slice a lot hoping this would straighten it out ? If so then you are probably coming over the top or your not closing the clubface. Borrow someone elses driver(you dont want to break yours ) and get some impact tape and see if when you do hit it decent if you are hitting off the heel of the face. If so you might be lunging at the ball . You should see the hosel on my old three wood.

Re: Help! ball keeps hitting the hosel on my driver!

Good tip cmays.
I noticed after using impact tape I was hitting towards the heel. I started lining up on the toe of my driver and hit the sweet spot more often now.

Re: Help! ball keeps hitting the hosel on my driver!

Couple things....

Draw weighted driver and an Offset driver are 2 different things. Which do you have?

If you fight a slice and you are cranking it off the hosel, then its an outside-in swingpath issue.

You have to fix the path in order to solve your problem. Cmays makes some great points, but even slicers can hit it dead center on the clubface. But their shot will be awful. I know. I used to hit it dead center on the clubface but wonder why my shots always faded. I was coming a bit over the top and leaving the face open.

Quite frankly, if you can fix your path AND hit the ball dead center on the face, its pretty hard not to produce a good shot. Just as long as the face is squared to your target at impact

Isn't this game great!!!
