Question Arrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok humour me guys
been to the range tonight
lets assume i have sound grip, alignment, posture and ball position
i have a smooth takeaway swinging back on plane flat left wrist at the top
smooth transition into downswing staying down in the shot through to a high balanced finish.

why am i still fading/slicing the ball?

Ian, you may not even realise it, but your shoulders are probably open. This is a major factor with slice and fade.

Robert.

If what you say is accurate and I have no reason to believe it is otherwise(although you may want a buddy to take a look), you may need your lie angles checked on the irons and shaft length checked on driver.
Also, if you are coming out of the shot-even a little-this will cause a fade. Cheers and good luck

Cool Re: Arrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slater, sorry I misunderstood. So its just driver. Ok, check grip pressure and make very sure you keep the arms very relaxed especially forearms and for sure light grip pressure in hands. This will allow the hinge to happen which will square the clubface. Also, grip the driver more in the fingers and less with palms.
Good luck in the match tommorrow, you will do well I'm sure.

Re: Arrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Slats

I'm curious on the loft of you're driver...The lower the loft the harder to control (just a thought).

Maybe flatten it off just a bit on the backswing (just another thought).

Or check to make sure you're right hand is not rolling underneath you're left at impact...( I'm outta thoughts Slats........ )

It's got to be something easy to fix........

Good luck

Re: Arrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slats, have you tried having higher hands at address? Meaning the butt end of your club would be face your belly button instead of your belt buckle. From there take a nice easy backswing, think Pause at the top - then a nice easy transition and accelerate through.

This is what my instructor said to do and by golly I've started hitting draws, something I've never done with my driver..ever.

Re: Arrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Slats,

Don't let that right shoulder lead the downswing, get the hips sliding and the left hip lifting. Keep down into the swing with your spine angle maintained and head on that pillow.
