Hmmmm! Well scoring is in fact what counts but it's not ALL short game, the best players are skillful in most or all aspects of the game and need to be.

Par 4 and 5 holes generally need good distance off the tee and fairway for a chance of pars or birdies, it is difficult to par a par 5 when your third shot is 150/180 off the green or a par 4 when your 3rd is 80 feet off.

OK, the short game is very important but you have get there to set the short game up.

Re: how efficcent is my swing

I had a chance to tape my swing the other day.... wow, i thought with the distances/accuracy I was getting that I had a good swing. I think I may have one of the worste looking swing ever. If i saw my video w/o knowing that the very shots i recorded went about 240yds carry with my 3w NO WAY i would believe it went that far with my ugly EXTREMELY early casting i had.

You probly wont believe me either, but no lie, the following videos are a 240yd carry 3 wood and a 155yd 9i and a 200yd 5i with range balls.

This just goes to show how much of a factor frame is, I think the only reason i can get so much distance is because of my height, becuase I don't think it is my strength, and I KNOW it is not my technique.

Warning: the following swing videos may make you vomit they are so bad

3W 240yds

9I 155yds

5i 200yds

Re: how efficcent is my swing

Sorry chaps, was in a bit of a facetious mood - don't really know what came over me. It didn't come across as I intended.

Swing vids - well, there's nothing wrong with your distance - how's the straightness? You look like a very tall guy, so inevitably that affects your posture at address, but you're not maintaining your spine angle through the shot - your upper body comes way up, and then down, where as in an orthodox swing, your body is in an imaginary tunnel around which your shoulders are rotating.

That said, if it's going where you want it, who cares? You have admirable flexibilty and follow through, and there looks to be a pretty easy-going tempo which is nice! Good work!

Re: how efficcent is my swing

my driver has a very slight fade, my 3w-5i wood is strait down the pipe line, my 6i-pw has a slight pull none of these being off more than 5 yds. keep in mind tho, these are at the range, repeating the same swing over and over is simple, on the course.... its another story with 5 min in between swings...

i have always had an very odd swing, and I know I dont keep my spine angle too well. I want to work on my casting the most though. I never thought I released so early untill I saw the video.

you say I can play good with those distances, but I bet I could play even better with better technique, which would probly give me alot more distance. kinda what I was getting at in the beggining. Distance isn't everything, but if you have good technique, chances are you have good distance. But thoough, for a 15 year old to my to get my distances they would need good technique, I can get those distances, I want a good technique..... what comes with that technique would probly be greater distance, but I dont nessisarily want greater distances, I want a better technique, but you can tell how good or bad your distances based on how efficient your swing is or how good your technique is.

Like that started2k said howell III hits 300+ yd drives, and is about the same size/frame as me, so if i can't drive 300+ then there is something wrong with my technique and my swing isn't very efficient. if we were to say howell is 100% efficent swing, that would make my swing only 85-90% efficient

started2k answered my origonal question on what this post was about, so i was pretty much done with this post...

but now I guess i changed my post to getting my swing analysed, maybe I should start a new post so as not to confuse people.

Re: how efficcent is my swing

thanks for the advice, i do need to work on keeping my spine angle. the reason i think I have an open shoulder at adress is to compensate for my closed stance. I dont know why, but having a squareor open stance is just about the hardest thing for me to do. I am always finding myself constantly having to drop my front foot back or bring my right foot up when ever i look dow before I hit it in order to square my stance, and that probly has a role to the open shoulder.

I dont really think so. my right foot actaully comes up very early compared to most, which i would think would show that I wieght shift too early if anything and dont hang back.
