First round... Hi all, I've been a member for a while, and thought I'd picked up some useful tips until playing my first full round yesterday!! Played at Romanby (Romanby Golf and Country Club), and carded 114 after taking a handicap of 36, playing off the ladies' tees (I'm a girl so I can get away with it)! Not sure how good this is for a newbie, so if anyone would care to share their feelings (i.e. should I just give up now?!), that would be lovely! ![]() Score aside, the weather was great, the scenery was lovely (lots of lovely views and wildlife), and I had a great afternoon.... Shame it's nearly winter! Caz

Re: First round... BDBL, thanks for the words of encouragement! I took 6 lessons last summer, but work, house-hunting and the rubbish weather this year have all conspired to prevent me getting much in the way of practice. As my dad's just re-started playing after 20+ years, a quiet afternoon and £10 a round seemed like a good idea! Slightly consoled by the fact that I actually beat him on the first hole.... Will keep hacking. ;-)

Re: First round... a score of 114 is preety good for your first round of 18. i wouldn't be ashamed of that. i think my first round was 120. over winter you can always practise your putting inside, you will be amazed how many shots you'll shave off your game with just this alone. as for keeping record, it's up to you. doesn't hurt and you can see how u are going. my handicap never came down from 27 until about 6 months after starting playing golf. so keep at it and you'll do just fine.
