what is the most used club?

just curious.. what is the most used golf club in a game? somebody has made a statistics anywhere in the net (a rank or something)?
i guess it's putter because all golfer almost certainly will use it on the green. or maybe a certain number of iron? i don't know... pls help.......
so:
1st: putter (?)
2nd: iron #? (?)
3rd: iron #? (?)
4th: 3w (?)
i think it also depends on the handicap.. a hi number handicap maybe using more iron than putter.. don't know..

The most used club is the putter - roughly half your shots are taken with it.

I'd venture sand or pitching wedge next for mid to high handicappers (missing greens and having to pitch/chip/blast on).

Based on an average golfer who shoots in to 90's, the putter is definitely the most used club. The average golfer will take 36 or more (average 2 putt or worse) putts per 18 holes. From there, there is almost some sort of wedge shot per hole which will give you minimum 18 wedge (full, pitch or chip) shots per round. On a long course, there is about 14 drives (assuming four par 3's) and atleast 4 fairway woods for second shots on the par 5's. The rest will be iron shots (3-9 irons) - about 1 per hole on average. That gives your average 18 - 22 handicap player all 90 shots.

When I first started, forgetting about putting, I used my 3 iron the most. I tee off with it hit my second shot with it and also my third on par 5's. I used to only hit it around 150 yards. Today my mostly used club would be my 60 sand wedge, from 70 yards out that is the club i use, even for my bump and runs. hehehe unless I have 10 yards of green and I'm on the edge I will use my 7 iron to bump and run.

The most used club in my bag is the Pencil with the eraser on the end.
