pro v1 balls

I use pearl grade pro v lake balls.
They play no different to the new ones I once used but are half the price ,which is a major factor for me as I use 3 a round (my wedges have very sharp grooves and remove a fair bit of the skin from the ball each time I hit it).

I have never used a refurb so can't pass comment on them.

I been buying 2nd prov1 392, they arn't are clean looking as the new one but still go okay. I don't really find much difference but the new ones do have a slightly better feel.

The Pro-V1x's require a higher clubhead speed to get the most out of and I find that these balls fit my game well. Also, the Callaway HX Tour is a good ball and I liked the Pinnacle Exception well enough. Haven't played the Nike balls yet.

The reason you're removing part of the cover from those lake balls is because they've been sitting in water. Water seeps into the pores of the balls and softens the cover. You may be losing distance as well.

I agree - I played some Rev Tours when I saw they were half price... outstanding for my slower swing speed.

Then I learned that MaxFli is discontinuing them.

So I bought 30 dozen.

then on Sunday I was punching under trees and the ball caught a root took a huge lump out of it, putting was fun on that hole
NXT Tours for me lately, not super stop on them but it does check up ok.

C'mon Gree - I'd expect that you would know that you could have declared that proV unfit, and subbed a ball in.

And Jeff makes a great point about water balls - they will NOT perform as well after being submerged.

There was a process endorsed by Greg Norman that would make the ball darker and darker the more the water penetrated it. It may never catch on, but it sure gave me great insight into how water balls will play (or more accurately, WON'T play).

well it was one of a bout 5 balls I was playing on that hole (late sunday evening) so I wasnt really pushed!

Im convinvced that those refinished ones are not refinshed in the same way they are originally made, the cover is ****py.

I tried recycled balls once, and once only. I was using Titleist recycled balls and felt a very noticeable difference in the feel and performance of the ball. I teed one up on a long par 5 and hit it flush, the moment I hit the ball I felt it literally fall apart. It went about 10 yards and just died. It was almost like one of those exploding balls. I would rather hit a cheap Top Rock than any recycled ball. But the old saying is true...you get what you paid for.....
