| Re: Balls Veering off to the right This means you are hitting the ball with an inside-out swingpath and your clubface is open to your swing path at impact. If you can square your clubface at impact to the target line, you will have a nice draw. This drill might be the answer to all your problems: http://members.shaw.ca/gord962/drills/clubface.htm |

| Re: Balls Veering off to the right Practise the right hand drill by keeping your right wrist cupped from beginning to the end of the swing. This is by far the BEST instruction that has cured my slicing problem. With practise, you will be able to hit consistent, and I mean CONSISTENT, straight shots that fly high and long. I've had 4 different pro instructors over the last 3 years and only 1 has taught me about the right hand. |

| Re: Balls Veering off to the right I read a tip from Jack Nicklaus years ago on curing the slice. The problem lies in not having the the clubhead square with the ball at impact. Jack said the way to cure this, is to make sure when you are coming down with your followthru that your hands are suare to the target and the ball and DON'T STOP AT IMPACT, but continue on a straight follow thru to the target for another foot BEYOND the ball. This will force you to meet the ball squarely and not open your clubface. Concentrate on the ball and swinging squarely THROUGH the ball and not at it. This has helped me a great deal. ![]() |

| Re: Balls Veering off to the right The reason for the ball going straight right is because you are swinging inside to outside with the face square. If it were to fly straight and then curve to the right that would be inside to outside with an open clubface. Look at your fundamentals. Are you aiming to far to the right? Where is your ball position(it may be too far back in your stance) Also look at your grip (this is the most important fundamental) your hands are the only part of your body that comes in contact with the club. A grip that is incorrect by so much as a half inch will have a 30 yard error either to the left or right. When a player holds on too tight with the left arm, he will retard the release. This is great if you would like to hit a fade, but we are trying to accomplish the opposite. Make sure that your hands are soft. On a scale of 1-10, you will want a grip pressure of about a 4 or 5. Any tighter than this and you will encounter problems. Not to mention you will generate more clubhead speed, and ensure a proper release. Make sure that the V'S formed by your fore finger and thumb on each hand point between your right shoulder and chin. A great way to fix pushes is to attempt to do the opposite, swing over the top. Aim right of the target, you can acheive this by dropping your right foot backwards (towards your rear) this will encourage an inside to outside path however you will rotate the club closed this will produce a draw. Focus on rotating your arms, this will ensure that you release your hands. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRY ALL OF THESE FIXES AT ONE TIME. TRY EACH ONE SEPERATELY. If you need to, print this out and take it with you.
