Better or worse??

I went for a game this morning knowing I had a problem with slicing my woods, but I knew my short iron play was good.So off the first tee my 3 wood went fine, but my iron play was pathetic.Second hole my driver even went straight( i have changed my ball position and grip slightly) but again my short iron play was very poor.It wasnt till i got to the 17th hole that i started bringing the grip closer to my body that i played a couple of better iron shots.So many things to remember.
