Talking Tee problems

I am relatively new to golf and have only been playing for several months. When i walked into my pro shop the other day i was astounded by the huge variety of tees. Is there any advantage to using say a brush tee instead of a conventional wooden one? What are your opinions?
Dan

Re: Tee problems

Hi Dan,

Purley gimmicks mate, it is almost impossible to say a brush tee makes the ball go further.

Buy some simple wooden ones, tee it just off the grass for irons and a little higher for your woods.

Ian.

Hi this is Steve Bean.
I am a teaching Professional in southern California.
The only way a tee will matter is in your pocket bill. With a driver speed of 80 to 110 mph I dont think a wooden tee has any affect on the clubface.

I'll second that.

The brush tees are neat - they give you a consistent tee height - but I don't think they'll add yards.

I prefer 2.5" tees myself. They can be used for both irons and woods (irons especially when they break).

Re: Tee problems

I don't think brush tees are legal for tournament play are they?? Or and tees with preset heights.

Re: Tee problems

Brush tees are perfectly legal to use in sanctioned play, and I swear by them not at them. I always get the perfect height and the ball seems to come off my driver cleaner. I have added 20 yards + since switching to the oversized Brush-T.

Re: Tee problems

Hello all,

I agree the only different i find in tee is how long they are. I use woodern ones for the driver, but the small plastic peg tee for the short par 3 where i use an iron. Hope this helps

Re: Tee problems

Actually, I've started to use the Brush Tee Biodegradable Zero Friction Tee. It is supposed to add yards to your drive and make you hit less off line. I have noticed nothing of that. The reason I use them is simply that they seem unbreakable and will last forever.
