my first round

My first round? I had been thinking about taking up golf for a while, and had finally hit some balls at the range with a couple of friends. It felt good swinging away and I was quite enjoying it. Time to hit the course for real! My mate booked a four ball at the Burnside course at Carnoustie, and that was it. Except that it wasn't really....... I stood on the second tee (the Open was on, so the first was being used for hospitality tent erection) absolutely bricking it. Then a few guys turned up behind us with all the flash gear, which made it even worse! I spooned my drive into the rough about 50 yards ahead of me, then topped my second even deeper into the rough. Despite my mates trying to help me relax, I'd had enough. I was off to the boozer! A few pints later, I had chilled out enough to realise where I was going wrong. Time to relax.

That was last year, and now I'm absolutely hooked. Still slicing my drives though!!
