| Re: WGC Accentre Matchplay! Man I hate it when I'm right and dont bet on it......disappointed at Donald not making a better fist of it but O'Hern is playing superb just now. Was impressed when watching him against Tiger, hitting it to 10 feet and then watching Tiger trying and failing to get it inside from closer. He held his nerve well, it can't be easy to play Tiger when he is that close to home. Heres the quarter finals, Goosen looking better and better for a final appearance. (16) Chris DiMarco (USA) v (8) Stewart Cink (USA) (4) Retief Goosen (Rsa) v (44) Robert Allenby (Aus) (31) Nick O'Hern (Aus) v (42) Ian Poulter (Gbr) (14) David Toms (USA) v (11) Adam Scott (Aus) From that my Semi Final prediction is DiMarco vs Goosen O'Hern vs Scott Although I would like to see Poulter continue his run. Here's another point, what does everyone think of the fact that 3 out of the four WGC events are in the US this year and all the singles ones at that. Yet more bias towards the PGA Tour. They need to start playing these things in Africa or the Far East I think, this would be the best compromise. C'mon the Poulter!!!! D. |

As much as I agree with you, it will never happen. Greg Norman said it best in an interview last year: "They [meaning the American-based players] don't need to work as hard or travel anymore like we did. You can be very average and make a fortune." |

| Re: WGC Accentre Matchplay! Yea, Graham, but we are talking about the top 64 or so in the world here. They will already be hopelessly rich by virtue of what they have to do to get into that rarified group. I'm stunned at what a win means in reference to World Ranking Points in this thing - 37 points for the winner!!!!!! Scott Drummond got 32 for his Volvo PGA win and that was a top tourney against a full field. This WGC thing smacks of the rich getting richer. Its not really a world championship if only 64 players in the world are allowed to play is it? This world ranking points thing that has been discussed time and again on this forum is really starting to get on my goat. I wonder what the world ranking table would look like if every tournament was graded equally? I would imagine that there would be far fewer average american players cluttering up the high end of the lists. I did a bit of research and heres a list of American and European players The first player is better than the other, ask yourself if (without looking at the rankings list) that is really the case over the last couple of seasons Player 1 Player 2 Stewart Cink Stuart Appelby Tom Lehman Paul Casey Chad Campbell Luke Donald Fred Funk Colin Montgomerie Bob Tway Shingo Katayama Kirk Triplett Nick Price I would take any of the players on the right of the list to make a score for me on a random course anywhere in the world. Maybe not on one of those target golf identikit turf nursery stadium course in the states but anywhere else for sure. D. |

| Re: WGC Accentre Matchplay! Hey I just love it when I am not the only one who thinks the American circuit is purly to make them look better. We all know how they react with a windy links with long rough. "Its not Fair" We want nice conditions a friendly crowd and easy fairways with forgiving rough and oh What is a pot bunker? They are not allowed are they? If you dont hit the fairway then you should be punished!!! Sorry if the Americans dont like it but I thought thats how you play golf ? |
