WGC Accentre Matchplay!

Hi all!

Well it starts today, the top 60 or 65? in the world, who do you reckon will win? or who do you want to win? and will tiger win it again? but adam scott has just come over from a great win at nissan open so he will be looking for another win and also phil mickleson hes already won 2 this year and looks iin great form! what do you think?

Monty is the matchplay king in my opinion.


He just needs a few breaks and there will be no stopping him.

Aeh yes! monty! but do you think he could hold tiger, vijay etc? i think he could, and he has a great record in the rydercup in single matchplay wins but i have heard that the first round was canceld today due to rain? if you look on www.pgatour.com it says

Just checked the world golf championship website and monty and Els arent playing!!!Its the top 64 in the world!

Nope, Monty isn't playing and as far as I know Ernie isn't playing either. He's checking the golf course he's building near his home town in South Africa.

Phil is my man, I think he's gonna win this one. Can you imagine a Phil vs Tiger final!!!

Well really, i dont think tiger will make the final, he hasent been playing his best, in the final will be Mickelson Vs i dont know yet!?

I dont think Phil or Tiger will make the final. They arent the best matchplay guys out there. I would look for the best each way money guys, one of the guys out at 20/1 or thereabouts. Luke Donald has a great matchplay game and Darren Clarke has won it before of course.


Retief claims not to like the course and Vijay hasnt ever done well at it as far as I know (correct me if im wrong). It could be a dark horse type week.

It has been postponed until Thursday cause of the rain and they are going to try and fit the quarters and the semi's on the same day.

i expect tiger to win. he may not be the best match player but he does always do well in the wgc. He is the all time money leader at accenture as well. I expect the final pairing to be Tiger and Jimenez who has really played well in the last year.

Phil and Tiger can only meet in the semi final.

Can you say Tiger vs. Vijay in the final and the winner tkaes to #1 in the World Ranking?

My personal pick has to be Weir, again. Matchplay suits his game as of late perfectly. Who cares if he takes a triple bogey, it would count the same as a birdie if his opponent gets an eagle. Mike has had a horrible record previously of 1 and out, so I guess we'll see if he can break the streak.

Who do I honestly think will meet in the final? How do you like this one: Darren Clarke and Phil Mickelson

Why cant tiger and mickleson meet in the final? and i would like to see daren clake to do well, in the nissan he nearly got 2 aces, and i think hse doin well

They can't meet because they are on the same side of the brackets:

Typical - Phil moved into Ernie's spot, therefor 2 vs 3 and on the other side Goosen moves to 4, so Singh vs Goosen (1 vs. 4) if all the match winners went according to ranking. It sets up for a possible 1 vs. 2 in the final. It's just the way pools are made.
