| Re: Gutted For Monty I can't complain about the PGA Tour deciding that one of it's major tournaments is for those high up on their money list. You can't convice me that Monty is ignorant of the qualification details - I'm sure if he wanted to play in the Masters, he'd have played more PGA events up to this point. Don't get me wrong - I like Monty as much as the next guy, but the closest thing that World Golf has to an All-Star event is the Ryder and President's Cups. |

| Re: Gutted For Monty So why dont they invite the members of the last Ryder Cup Teams??? Im sure they used to but then again they have a lot of ex champions to accomodate now. I'm not sure I think the ex champion thing is still valid. I think they should maybe think about making the cut off 50 years old or making it that the players have to be regular tour (whatever tour their home tour is) members rather than seniors tour members. Tommy Aaron George Archer Gay Brewer Jack Burke Billy Casper Charles Coody Raymond Floyd Doug Ford Bob Goalby Byron Nelson Jack Nicklaus Arnold Palmer Tom Watson Fuzzy Zoeller Theres 14 players with no hope of winning (and dont try and claim otherwise probably only Watson, Zoeller, Nicklaus and Floyd have a realistic chance of breaking 150 for the first two rounds). I know the tradition is for winners to be entitled to play but surely it dilutes the field? Theres a bunch of guys deserve their shot at this tourney. I know its an invitational but come on, its a Major. I have never agreed with the Masters and the USPGA being regarded as Majors anyway. They dont adhere to the same principles as the 2 Opens which are open to anyone with a scratch handicap. The Masters is an Invitational and the USPGA is only for PGA pros and invited non PGA tour members. Ok they are huge events and very prestigious but its the same as making the TPC a Major, not really all that meaningful. Still looking forwards to watching it though.... D.

| Re: Gutted For Monty I agree with Mizunoman, It's disgusting............... Monty has worked his socks off this year and showing some real form in every event this year. He must be the riched, most talented player now not to win a Major and it doesn't look like he's going to get the chance with this one. If he wins one of the other Majors this year and gets an invite next year if he doesn't qualify..I hope he turns it down. Can't wait to see him at the British Masters next month.......I'll be the good looking guy with the "Monty for Prime Minister" banner. Ian.

| Re: Gutted For Monty I agree with Mizunoman, I would have though when the list of invites were been drawn up they would first look at those players who had just missed out on qualification & invite those who would have a realistic chance of at least making the cut. With Monty you would have a player who could lead the tournament for greens in regulation & who could certainly be expected to play past the first 2 days . Tee to green he is still one of the best players in the world , he should not be watching this tournament on the tv ![]() |

| Re: Gutted For Monty If they are sending out invites, Monty should be on that list above the others that were invited. As for the qualifications, those a re the rules and EVERYONE must live by them. But yes, he should have received an invite over the rest of the people that recieved a special invitation. |

| Re: Gutted For Monty Will monty not be a reserve if people pull out??? I thought Arnold Palmer n Jack Nicklaus werent playing this year!!! Also I thought Padraig Harrington pulled out due to his fathars illness! I think past champions should be allowed to a certain level. maybe the next 10 - 25 years after they win it!!I think past champions like arnold palmer should use they're own judgement and realsie that the decent thing is to not play and allow the tournament to be for the top players! |

| Re: Gutted For Monty To much emphasis is put on pga tournaments, invite the best wether they play enough tournaments on the US circuit or not. Palmer Nickulas sorry guys I couldn't find space in the field to slot them in. |
